Who wants to ride bike with us?? This Saturday, August 22nd, we are having our annual FlatLands 'Century' 100-mile Group Road Ride! Whether you've done several 'century' rides before or you've only ever dreamed about riding your bike 100 miles in one go, this ride is for you. We have experienced ride leaders who will lead the way with fellow cycling enthusiasts and help everyone complete this milestone achievement. Here are some important details about this ride:
Where: Ride departs from Centennial Elementary School at the NE parking lot. The ride will also end here.
When: Wheels roll at 7am on Saturday, August 22nd. Try to get there early!
Route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3525147687687227338
This is the link to view the route on Strava. We have 3 planned stops at gas stations to refill on water and snacks, those are at mile 23, 53, and 83. We still encourage you to plan ahead and bring water and snacks to eat throughout the ride.
Pacing: We plan to have two pace groups for this ride. One group will average 17-19mph and one group with average 15-17mph. This doesn't mean each group will hold that average speed constantly - we may go slower into a headwind, or faster with a tailwind, for example - but at the end of the ride the average speed should fall in these two ranges. We will use a pace line where appropriate to share the draft and help keep everyone feeling fresh throughout the ride. If you haven't ridden in a pace line before, we'll be happy to show you how it works.
Waiver: For 2026 FlatLands Cycling Members, you have already signed a wavier when you became a member which applies to FLC events for the entire year. For non-members, we will have waivers available to sign before the ride departs.
All riders are required to wear helmets on this ride. Please do not bring aero bars. Aero bar use will not be allowed while riding in the group.
If you have a FlatLands jersey, we encourage you to wear it!
Remember to charge your batteries!
