Hello Fargo-Moorhead!
We are the Fargo-Moorhead Historical Fencing Club. Historical swords and swordsmanship are what we like to study. While none of us are experts, we use historical sources like manuals and fencing treatises to keep our methods of fencing grounded in the practical wisdom of the past.
Particularly, we enjoy practicing the broadsword and saber traditions of the 18th and 19th century, which form the main body of our practice material.
However we dabble in earlier traditions as well, especially sword and buckler, and rapier traditions!
So if you or any of your friends are interested, please email us ahead of practice in order to reserve some sparring/drilling equipment for you.
EDIT: We meet on Mondays from 6-8:00 pm. Please email about our location, as we occasionally change location from session to session.
NOTE: we are a very small group and have VERY limited resources. For this reason, not everyone will get the chance to spar every evening. Feel free to bring your own equipment. I (Kevin) will check it over when you get to the meeting location. We usually practice right next to the Fargo Parks District Fencing Club and often borrow some of their equipment. If you would simply just like to watch, by all means! Also if anyone has any further questions, please direct them to the club’s email listed on this page.
