Afternoon MASA, it's nearly time.... USA to take on the Aussies. Predications on the back of a postcard! USA 2-1 Australia is mine.
League Standards/Housekeeping.
As we prepare for games next week, I want to address an important aspect of our league that, while not always enjoyable to discuss, is necessary to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.
This is an adult league, and the emphasis here is on adult. While I am not here to tell anyone how to conduct themselves in their personal lives, participation in this league comes with expectations and standards of behavior. You may agree with these standards, disagree with them, or feel indifferent toward them. Regardless, they are non-negotiable. If these expectations do not align with how you wish to participate, we respectfully ask that you seek another league that better suits your preferences.
Our goal is simple: to create an environment where everyone can come out, enjoy the game, and feel welcome.
People participate for many different reasons. Some play for fun, fitness, competition, friendship, personal development, or simply a love of soccer. Whatever your reason for playing, you are welcome here, and we want you to be part of the league.
However, there are certain behaviors that have no place in our league:
Poor sportsmanship
Foul, abusive, or disrespectful language, particularly when directed at teammates, opponents, referees, or league staff
Violent conduct
Threatening or intimidating behavior
Repeated failure to attend matches after committing to play (we understand that emergencies and unavoidable conflicts happen)
Prioritizing winning at the expense of the enjoyment and experience of others and yourself.
We all want to compete and win. Competition is an important part of the game. However, winning should never come before respect, sportsmanship, and creating a positive environment for everyone involved.
Our league exists to provide an enjoyable, safe, and welcoming experience for all participants. We appreciate your support in maintaining these standards and helping us build the type of community that people want to be a part of.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to the league.
Lastly, Spectators during Summer 11v11. Should not be on the field. There are bleachers for spectators to view and enjoy the game from. Field 1, spectators should be at the side closest to the carpark, restrooms. Not behind the players. They will be asked to move once and only once. If they make no effort to move, we will the abandon the game until it is resolved.
Adult Soccer League – Week 2 Wrap-Up
Week 2 delivered everything we've come to expect from adult league football: goals, drama, questionable defending, and at least one team wondering if they accidentally registered for the wrong division.
Argentinos Jrs 5-1 Smashed FC
Argentinos Jrs picked up where they left off, comfortably dispatching Smashed FC. The scoreline suggests a straightforward evening, while Smashed FC's lone goal at least spared them the dreaded nil on the scoresheet. Small victories, as they say.
CCFC Phoenix 1-1 FC Veracruz
Two of Week 1's winners met in what many considered an early title-contender showdown. Jhon Trujillo struck for Phoenix, while FC Veracruz battled back to earn a point. Neither side blinked, neither side lost, and both remain firmly in the conversation at the top of the table.
Trash Pandas Take Out the Rubbish
Trash Pandas 5-2 Los Plebes Del Norte FC
The Trash Pandas finally got their attack rolling, putting five past Los Plebes Del Norte FC. After a hard-fought draw in Week 1, the Pandas showed they have much more bite than their name suggests.
Blue Ballers FC 1-1 FC Diabolical
After storming through Week 1, FC Diabolical discovered that goals don't always arrive on demand. Jonathan Aguilar's strike earned Blue Ballers a valuable point and handed Diabolical their first dropped points of the season. Somewhere in the league, rival managers are breathing a little easier.
Mummies FC 13-0 Tire Express FC
Well... where do we begin?
The Mummies didn't just rise from the dead—they unleashed absolute chaos. Gustavo Medina delivered a jaw-dropping six-goal performance, Fernando Urgell added four of his own, Alexis Leon grabbed a brace, and Manuel Quintero joined the party as well.
At one point the scoreboard operator reportedly requested overtime pay.
Tire Express FC endured a night they'll be eager to forget, while the Mummies served notice to the entire league that they may be the team to beat.
QCP FC 4-0 Burnout FC
Two weeks, two wins for QCP FC. Darlan Banegas continued his Golden Boot charge with another brace, while Melvin Rosa and Denilson Pinel Villalobos added goals of their own. Burnout FC worked hard but couldn't find a way through a disciplined QCP side.
Week 2 Team of the Week
C-TOWN FC 0-3 MIXTIADO FC
Nothing was reported.
Beercelona FC 2-1 Highbury FC
After taking a heavy defeat in Week 1, Beercelona FC bounced back in style to earn their first victory of the season. Whether it was tactical adjustments, improved fitness, or simply remembering which goal they were attacking, the response was impressive.
Highbury FC continue their search for their first points of the campaign. The effort is there, but the football gods have yet to smile upon them.
5 Stars 2-1 Wanderers
5 Stars made it two wins from two matches, edging out Wanderers in a closely contested affair. Wanderers battled hard and kept themselves in the match throughout, but 5 Stars found the extra quality when it mattered most.
It's not always pretty, but good teams find ways to win. Right now, 5 Stars are doing exactly that.
See you next week, where every team still believes they're winning the league—except the teams who've already started blaming the referees.
