The Montrose rod and gun club will be hosting the varmint silhouette shoot Saturday September 18th at 9:00 AM. This is benchrest shooting and is restricted to 6.5 mm or 26 caliber or smaller. No magnums and bullets must be expandable. The course of fire is 25 total rounds. Five rounds at each distance. 150, 200, 300, 400 and 500 meters. There are two categories. Open which is heavy target barrel .750 or larger at muzzle and is allowed an adjustable front rest, but no rear bag. With unlimited scope magnification. Or hunter category which is sporter profile barrel and limited to 10 power scope setting. The entry fee is $20.00 for men. $10.00 for women and no charge for youths 14 and under, but must be accompanied by parent or responsible adult. Bring cash half the proceeds will be split between the top 3 finishers. The range is 5 miles east of Montrose on north side of Highway 50, half mile west of black canyon turn off.
