Have you ever noticed the orange and blue tents floating on the Great Miami River near Treasure Island? These tents were invented by Troy local Ethan Smith at SmithFly, and several were purchased by the City of Troy, partially funded by a grant from The Troy Foundation back in 2018.

These floating tents can be seen out on the Great Miami River every summer and they are one of Troy’s most popular tourist attractions. They have even been featured in countless travel blogs and popular Tik Toks!

The Troy Foundation often partners with the City of Troy to enhance the quality of life for those who live here. We are grateful for their help in supporting fun projects like the floating tents, local concerts, or big events. We also appreciate their collaboration in providing essential services for the residents of our city.

We have finally rounded the corner on production of at least one of our products, the Hands Free Oar Hooks. Thanks to some new partners and diligent work we have packed and ready to ship a few dozen of these boxed up with our slick new stickers. Mostly same day or next day shipping on these for a while. I hope to be able to stay ahead of them and keep them in stock. It's been a long road here. Still working on getting caught up on all our other stuff. Hard work pays off.

It’s been a little quiet here over on the SmithFly Social media feed. But it hasn’t been quiet behind the scenes.

As some of you are aware, in February we had to relocate our Montrose facility so I used that inflection point as an opportunity to consolidate and streamline things by moving the Ohio based metal fabrication shop out here to put everything under one roof.

After months of hard work packing, shipping, unpacking, sorting through ten years worth of accumulated stuff we are now in the process of getting settled into our new place and we are working on getting caught up on things that have been back ordered.

And after all of that dust settled it’s basically back just me again, back to the way the way it all started. Jst me, making stuff that people hopefully find useful to help them get on the water and chase some dreams.

We are doing some consolidation and spring cleaning, this 13' Ghreenoe project needs to go find a better home. It is located in the Tipp City, Ohio shop and only available for pickup at that location. No reasonable offers refused. I put the front casting deck on it's laminated foam plywood and epoxy resin, filled the floor and fared it. It has 10 oz cloth on it and epoxy as well. We have the side rail hardware and bow cap. The hatch came in and it was the wrong color. It's black. It really probably ought to be white, but it is what it is and is not fully bolted in yet. This can handle up to a 99 still reasonably lightweight. Cockpit floor is now flat. Drain pipe is installed under the flat floor. So yeah somebody looking for a cool project hit us up.
