How about a quick trip down memory lane?
A little over four years ago we turned an AYSO team and the hope of keeping them together into a travel team. From there, we grew into a program of five teams, before going back to the one original 2013 team. As a program, we have focused on the development of young soccer players into great soccer players.
The 2013's, the originals, have been through it all together in the last four years. Tough tournament losses, come back wins, injuries, league loses, league championships and tournament championships. They have grown together, played other sports together, and become like sisters. They have had the most fun, and played their hearts out over the years. As parents, it has been nothing short of amazing to watch their growth and development as players, teammates, and people.
Tonight, the 2013's will take to the pitch together for the last time as the Mayhem SC. Nothing scandalous, we promise. It quite simply is time for them to continue growing their love of the soccer game, or maybe even their love of a different sport. Our hope is that they will take what they have learned in their years together and apply it to whatever their future holds, which will undoubtedly be great things.
Lastly, we can't thank Aprill Rick and Donald Jasun Whitmire enough for their years of coaching and dedication to these girls, and all of the other girls who have come through this program. The sacrifices made have not gone unnoticed and your impact on these girls is unparalleled. Thank you will never be enough.
If you're so inclined, they will take on the Tri-County Nationals at 6:00pm, at their home field behind the SVSU football stadium. The girls would love the support, one last time.
"Somewhere behind the athlete you've become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you, is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back. Play for her." ~Mia Hamm
