Things discussed so far during practice this season
1: When the ball is in your hand it is your RESPONSIBILITY to protect the ball and help guide the play's.
2: Communication on the court is done through eye contact, vocal (Be Loud) and body language.
3: Triple threat the option to shoot, pass or dribble. It's our starting point for everything we do.
4: Upon receiving the ball and Triple Threat is established : STOP, LOOK and LISTEN before making a decision. Communicate
5: We pass with a purpose and make eye contact with teammate. Hard pass
A: Pivot, Pivot 360 until we have eye contact and a safe pass
6: Set yourself first,10 toes to the basket, hips and bent, shoulders square, bring ball up from hip, and follow through with straight torso and shooting arm . Remember that further out your hand is on release, has less of an arch the ball will have.
7: Even if we miss the shoot. It's still opportunity for a rebound. Either by shooter or teammate so better arch less chasing because we know where we want ball to go.
In defence
1: Hands Up and Stay Low. We dont drop are hands because shows we are tired or lazy in are efforts.
2: Hands Up also allows for us the feel for offensive screeners allowing us space to disrupt the plays and continue defending.
3: When in Man Defence we stay with our man unless in helpside. Don't worry about ball if not in your players hands. It will come to you.
4: Mirror the ball with one hand and protect passing hand with other.
5 Stay on your toes.
6: When on bench watch the game and look for player weakness or MO as players get comfortable in doing same thing.
