Wanted to make a post that is truly from the bottom of my heart (me, being Jacob Morgan).

We are usually either solely the timer, or solely the advisor at running events. Today we got to be both. What we encountered through putting on an event that is based on running up a random hill in tiny Monticello was community, new friendships, and fantastic support from folks who just want to see every walker, runner, or rucker succeed. It wasn’t about who was fastest. It wasn’t about who was the slowest. It was about the community that embraces both of those groups.

Congrats to our champions Reagan Tounge (Science Hill) (13:39) on the Women’s side, and Mike Baird (Frankfort) (08:51) on the Men’s side. Perhaps next year someone will be able to get Ryder Bell’s elusive 08:21 record…but it did not fall this year!

I want to personally thank my family for helping us put this event on. Family is everything to me. I suppose that’s why close knit community events are such a passion for me. I have nothing I can give them besides some breakfast on race morning in return for their help; but they still show up, ready to serve the running community. There is no Jacob, there is no Morris Hill Meltdown, and there is no Every Mile without my wonderful wife, parents, brother, grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Thank you to Nelson Weaver at Lake Cumberland Real Estate for providing a kind sponsorship that covered our wonderful awards from The Nest Creative Arts Studio, and Against the Grain Farm LLC. Thank you to our local EMS, and Fire Department for keeping our runners safe. Scott Gehring, our Judge Executive, was kind enough to drive Morris Hill with me to gauge how he could help this event go smoothly and safely…I am so thankful for that. We could not have done it without you all. Thank you to Monticello Banking Company for providing the water. Thank you to our local Chamber of Commerce, and the city for all of your help with this event. You all truly love Monticello, and it shows.

Here’s to more running events in small towns, more support of local businesses, and more fun in all of our lives. Thank you all!!

🥶LAST MINUTE MHM INFO🔥

Just wanted to reach out with some more info! As a reminder, packet pickup will be at the Wayne County Marketplace beside Main Street Dance Company from 7:45AM-8:55AM at 30 S Main Street, Monticello, KY. Our trailer will be down there with the race route pulled up, and our volunteers awaiting you to get you checked in. Parking is available all over downtown Monticello as shown on our promo video on our RunSignUp page, and Facebook/Instagram.

There is a 0.3 mile walk to the start line that our volunteers will be providing you thorough directions to arrive at the start line safely. The race is 1.2 miles in total. We will have shuttles at the top of the hill, but if you are someone who likes to get a worn down after your race, it is perfectly fine to run back to where our Awards will be held. Our awards are also in downtown Monticello right beside packet pick up In front of the Chamber of Commerce building circled in the photo below. We will have random prizes. We will have first, second and third overall awards for male and females (first male and female win $150). First, second and third awards for our ruck division (combined). We will also be having a last place award for our final finisher.

Whether you want to come race the hill, walk to complete a challenge, or just enjoy some pretty scenery with an award at the top…WE WANT YOU AT THE RACE. Everyone is welcome! This is a community based event.

🔥Morris Hill Meltdown is our next race on our list to time! Come out and enjoy a great time with a small town community with a big heart. Prize money is available to the first overall winners in the male and female divisions.🔥

Even if you’re not a runner, don’t walk a ton, or aren’t a big fan of exercise in general…this event has more to offer than just prize money, awards, etc. This event is more so focused on a pretty awesome landmark here in little Monticello. This will be a place to enjoy some awesome views, spend time with great people, and challenge ourselves to a fantastic challenge. Keep in mind, if you complete the challenge (or even if you just come spectate/volunteer) you have a full day of awesome activities, vendors, and small businesses to enjoy at the DOWNTOWN MONTICELLO MARKET! It is always a blast.

Ready to challenge yourself? The Blue Heron 10K Trail Race is coming up, and this is not your average run.

Set in the heart of the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, this 6.1 mile course will push you and reward you every step of the way. With over 1,000 feet of elevation gain, you will climb, descend, and navigate one of the most scenic and rugged trails in Kentucky.

Runners will experience breathtaking gorge views, powerful whitewater rapids, towering sandstone bluffs, and one of the most unique features around — the famous Crack-in-the-Rock.

This is a true trail race.
