Sullivan County Atv Association was formed after a summer run of 91 riders, starting at Mr. Willy's restaurant in Monticello was completed. A 60 mile run to Fosterdale and back was so awesome that riders demanded that we do this every year. Later in the year of 1999, Michael Cooper, Eddie Houman, Jay Meddaugh and Tony Poli started the Sullivan County Atv Association. A lawyer and accountant were h
ired and so a non-profit organization was formed. Every year after the first run about 100 more riders would attend, in 2006, 7 years later, 710 riders attended in the annual charity poker run. It was huge!!! 50 miles of trails from Bethel to Eldred and back. Unfortunately the next few years saw a decline in attendance due to a failing economy and various other reasons. Expense was an issue, as well as trail congestion and also other atv runs became available. We have lowered our fee for participation and turned to outside vendors for food which tends to make things costly on our part. As far as trail congestion we have now created a self guided run. All trails are marked very clearly by our many volunteers so you can ride at your leisure, and as far as competition with other trail runs there is no comparison. Sullivan Atv delivers an awesome riding experience, with terrain to test every skill level. We have allowed motorcycles and Utvs(side by sides) to join us on our runs because no one should be excluded. We work very hard on the trails, which are all on private properties with permission granted by the owners. Every year after the fall run a dinner banquet is held in recognition of the property owners. At this time the funds collected are donated to the families and community organizations. We praise the land owners and there generosity for the use of there properties, and the volunteers are our greatest asset, without them none of this would be possible. As of the fall of 2013 after patronizing many of the local businesses SCATV has donated over $170,000 to the community. Sullivan County Atv is special and sums up what a bunch of hard working, hard riding , guys and girls can do for there community. To all the loyal riders, Come again, you guys and girls are the best. To those of you that have never ridden with us please come join us and be prepared to have the ride of a lifetime. We do 2 to 3 rides a year so we have something for everyone. We hope to see you at our next run!!!
