✨ WELCOME TO THE SQAD FAMILY, JIAMOND ASHMON! ✨
We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Jiamond Ashmon to the Symphony Q Academy of Dance family! 💛❤️💙💚
A performing artist, dance educator, choreographer, writer, and 200-hour certified yoga instructor, Jiamond brings an incredible wealth of professional experience and passion for dance to our students.
Originally from Fort Washington, Maryland, Jiamond began her dance training at Expressions Dance Theater of Oxon Hill, where she studied Horton technique, jazz, West African cultural dance, tap, and ballet. She later attended the prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C., continuing her studies in ballet, Horton, and West African techniques including Doundounba and Kinte.
Jiamond earned her degree Magna Cum Laude from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2020. Since then, she has performed with renowned companies including BalletX, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Chamber Dance Project, and Spectrum Dance Theater.
Her artistry extends into choreography, where she has been recognized by the Cultural Caucus of the Kennedy Center as an emerging choreographer for her solo works Balancing Act (2020) and Transform (2021).
Beyond the stage, Jiamond is a published author and the founder of Passion Projects for the People, LLC, based here in Montgomery, Alabama.
Most importantly, Jiamond has a deep love for sharing the gift of dance with children—and we are so excited for our SQAD dancers to learn, grow, and be inspired by her!
💫 Welcome to SQAD, Mrs. Jiamond! We are honored to have you on our team!
Be sure to give her a warm SQAD welcome in the comments! 👋🏽❤️
