The following list are positions in the swing that help break a swing down. It can help a golfer work on certain aspects of the swing, rather than the overall picture, therefore making it easier to understand.

Position 1) Preliminary Address: pre-shot routine
Position 2) Set up / Addressing the ball
Position 3) Start Up (action of takeaway and toward at 9:00)
Position 4) 9:00 position
Position 5) Mid Point (left arm parallel to ground)
Position 6) Top (top of backswing)
Position 7) Start Down (transition, start of downswing)
Position 8) Mid Point in Down Swing
Position 9) Release Point (shaft parallel to ground)
Position 10) Impact
Position 11) Follow through
Position 12) 3:00 position during follow through
Position 13) Mid Point of follow through (right arm now parallel to ground)
Position 14) Finish
