"Where do I even start with exercise??"🤔

This is a legitimate question I get asked frequently. Oftentimes women want to start with a workout program or just want to get moving, but have no idea WHERE to begin (not to mention all of the other factors that hold us back from beginning working on our health & fitness)...and so they NEVER begin.

If this is you, I just want you to know, it's much simpler than you may be making it out to be!

Here's what you do to get started:

1. Think about what you would like to get started with - maybe that's simply taking a walk around your neighborhood, or putting those dusty dumbbells to good use...or maybe moving all those clothes off of your cardio equipment that's been used a second closet for far too long.....👀 I know. You're not the only one that does that...trust me. NOW! Decide what movement would be the best for you to start with!✔️

2. Put it on your calendar for 2 days next week. Pick TWO DAYS that you know FOR SURE you will be able to get your movement in. It doesn't have to be the same time of day - put it in where it fits. It doesn't have to be when your kids aren't around - they can join in also. Just PUT. IT. ON. YOUR. SCHEDULE! ✔️

3. Start with a realistic amount of time for movement. If you have never really done exercise in the past, or haven't done it in months or years, no fear!! You can start with simply 10-15 minutes! Don't let ideas of "I need 45-60 minutes of exercise" creep in...maybe that's not realistic for you. You can increase the time per workout and/or how many days per week over time. ✔️

4. Alright...you've got the movement you chose, the days of the week you're doing it, and for how long you're planning to move. Now...MAKE IT A PRIORITY. When you start to have the excuses creep in, just remember...if you don't prioritize it for yourself, NO ONE ELSE WILL. The movement will only happen when you ACT on your plan, Girlfriend!! And I know you can, and trust me, you will feel PROUD and ACCOMPLISHED when you execute said plan!✔️

There! 4 simple steps to get you moving. It's really not as complicated as we often make it out to be!

So quick (15 mins) and easy and DELICIOUS!! I've posted this one in the past, but I had to share again because we make this one every few weeks.

Ummm....nooooot really.😏 And especially not as we age.

Let's have some real talk here Ladies...from my experience, not only in life, but with female clients, this doesn't pan out in your favor.

➡️Here's why: oftentimes we will consume foods that are high in processed carbohydrates, sugars, sodium, etc...and all of that "energy" can't possibly be used up quickly enough through exercise, so instead it is stored........as fat.......on your body.

🌱Additionally, as we age, the metabolism of our bodies decreases. You may have noticed that in your 20's this idea of eat whatever you want and then just go exercise it off was possible...but now, maybe you've had one or more kiddos and you're getting through your 30's, 40's, 50's and that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

💫Hormones play into this as well, but that could be a whole other post. But hormone fluctuation is not a crutch to living this type of unhealthy lifestyle with nutrition.

The reality is that, NO.😕 You cannot out train poor nutrition.

Reducing processed carbohydrates, sugars, sodium, bad fats, and increasing fruits, veggies, lean proteins, healthy fats....ALLLLL the things that you've heard a million times, but maybe have been ignoring...really is the key here.

💜Making adjustments over time to create and sustain a healthy lifestyle is the PRIMARY focus when I work with my Wellness & Nutrition Coaching clients. I like to focus on things that are already working and adding things that are helpful towards your goal. I don't do restriction. I don't term foods "bad" or "good" and I don't create you nutrition plans. Because I want to help you learn how to feed yourself and not have to be told by someone else what to do.💯

Do you exercise at home, or at the gym? Or both?🤔

I had a conversation with a client last week about how my husband likes to go to the gym to exercise and how I prefer to use my garage gym space instead.

We were chatting about how some people prefer the "vibe" of the gym, with the music and the weights, and the other people around you...everybody there for a collective reason.

And how sometimes you find that it might not be your vibe...🙃 or maybe it used to be, and now times have changed...

I often talk with Moms who are feeling unmotivated and upset that they can't get to the gym like they used to before kids. And I reassure them that you CAN reach your goals and have amazing workouts in a *fraction* of the time you used to, without all of the equipment (that the majority of people don't even use when they have a gym membership anyway!)

I train fellow Moms over the internet...in my garage gym...at the park/playground...in their living rooms...in their offices...sometimes with no equipment at all!

And oftentimes with our kids around, music playing, everyone smiling...and they get GREAT workouts and have results to show for it!!

So tell me...Where do you prefer to exercise?!

Of course we hide it from our kids.......right.......?? Or am I the only one?!?😏Kidding. I know I'm not the only one...b...

Kidding. I know I'm not the only one...but please help remind me I'm not the only one!😂

I think my favorite, and the thing I most often hide from my kids is CHOCOLATE. 🍫 But also, more recently my protein shakes! I've got to put the shaker behind the bag of mini carrots so that it doesn't get a second glance.🙄 haha!!

Mommy needs to have some things to herself. And I remind my kids of this nearly daily.

I share sooo many things with them...like all the pens, sticky notes and paper clips on my desk...and my water bottle...and my Chipotle and ALL my snacks...and my personal space...and my actual physical body for more than 2 years a piece...so there are some things that I'm just not obligated or willing to share, alright?!

🎉Meal Prep Tip!!

When you make your menu for the week, and create your grocery list, add in an extra dish that you can make for lunches!

I love to choose something that has similar ingredients to other meals on my menu and will be a quick throw together with minimal hands on time!

This dish was compliments of - of course!
💚Brown Sugar-Sage Gnocchi Bake with Sausage, Tomatoes & Onion.

I put it on top of raw spinach, and cooked black beans that I bought in bulk in my instant pot. Hands on time was short for prep, it cooked in the oven while the beans cooked in the IP.
