I built my first brand at 25. I built the second one in 2023.
It only hit me this week that both of them went national before I turned 40.

Neither one was just something to do. I built Black Box Franchising because I watched people sell entrepreneurs a dream and leave them standing there holding it. So I wrote down what was missing and built the version that should have existed.

Last week I stood in front of a room of college students and told them they can do the same thing. Build it from nothing. Scale it. Let other people win off what you made.

That’s the job. I love the job.

Look around your own town.
The single locations are closing and franchise systems are opening in their place. Not because those owners worked less. Because a system survives things one person can’t.

I’ve been telling small business owners to add a franchise model to what they already have for years. Not to replace their business — to secure it.

It matters more now than it ever has. You need something that doesn’t depend on you being there. You need other people growing your brand in cities you’ll never live in.

That’s how a brand outlives you.

Another Franchised location. Let’s go.
I’ve opened enough of these now that I know this model down to the smallest detail. I learned it the hard way, over years, so nobody coming after me has to.

Here’s the part that still gets me though. Every location I open is proof it works. Proof somebody else can own one. Proof a family can eat off something they built themselves.

That’s the whole point of franchising. Not what you build for yourself — what you build that lets other people eat.
Tag somebody who’s ready to own something.

Nobody told you your business could be a franchise.

They told you franchising is for McDonald’s. For billion-dollar brands. For people with investors.
I started with $500.

I built the brand, franchised it, and scaled it across the country. Then I went through the whole franchise development process myself — every slow part, every place it breaks, everything nobody explains to you — and built the version I wish had existed.

Your business doesn’t have to be big. It has to work without you.
And when it does, you don’t just have a business. You have something your whole family can eat off of.

New followers, Let me reintroduce myself.

I’m Kika Wise. I’m a franchisor — which means I didn’t buy a franchise. I built a brand from scratch and turned it into a national one. I’m currently still scaling my brand across the country.

First generation wealth creator. Speaker. Author of The Stretch, a #1 bestseller.

What I do now is help other people do what I did: build a brand from nothing, then franchise it.

I run my businesses alongside my family, and I teach the next generation what franchising actually is — because most small business owners have no idea how close they already are.

I’m not a franchise owner. I’m a franchisor.

A franchisee buys a franchise. A franchisor is the person who built the brand.

I started at 25 with $500, built the brand myself, and turned it into a system other people could own. Thirteen locations later, I’m one of very few Black women in this country who has done it.

Not bought into somebody else’s. Built my own. Now I teach entrepreneurs how to do the same thing.

Before any of that, I was his mother.
I’ve been on a football field with this kid since he was five years old. Today I watched all of it pay off.

It’s one thing to build your own. It’s another thing entirely to watch the person you gave life to start building his.
