EIS
TAKEN FROM THE SHASTA/TRINITY
NATIONAL FOREST ST

The following information has been taken from the EIS report from the Shasta/Trinity National Forest for a possible development of a downhill ski in Siskiyou County.

The FSEIS addresses this issue by conducting an analysis of potential sites in Northern California & Southern Oregon. The initial inventory identified 25 geographic sites capable of
providing Alpine Skiing. Further analysis narrowed down the sites considered in detail to five sites: Giddy Giddy Gulch, the old Mt. Shasta Ski Area, Mt. Shasta Ski Park, West Height Mt. & Waleback Mountain.

Avalanche Hazards: None for WHM

Climate & Snow Conditions: No Wind closer for WHM would receive less snow than the Mt. Shasta areas.WHM would have a 120-day season; however, during the operating season, snow depth should be sufficient to provide for quality skiing.

Volcanic Hazards: Low hazards for ash fallout for WHM.

Hydrology & Water Quality: No intermittent or ephemeral stream courses & with no adverse impacts to surface water on WHM.

Minerals: None on WHM.

Soil: Mitigation would have to take place.

Vegetation: Red Fir & Pine removal would have take to place for ski runs & lift lines, parking & lodge areas.

Visual Resources: Portions of the proposed development would be visible from heavily traveled County, State & Federal Highways.

Wilderness Road less Areas: None for WHM

Wildlife: Increased use would disturb & displace some species. This may alter use patterns.

Cultural Resources: WHM would have the least effect on Native Americans.

Economics: There is an increased demand for year-round recreational development. Income for a four-season resort is anticipated to generate new jobs; these jobs will be affected by the multiplier of spending.

Noise: There will be some effects in the permit area & off site areas.

Recreation: There would be additional activities in the area of WHM.

Social: Individual incomes derived from year-round recreational activities are anticipated to receive salaries of Minimum wage.

Implementation of WHM could change the very rural character along U.S. Highway 97 between W**d & Doirris & stimulating growth.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY ALDER CREEK DIVIDE PROJECT

The Alder Creek Divide proposed Recreation project has the potential of being the most modern Environmentally project in the recreation field.

The sewer system would be ozone system. This system would allow the water to be reused for Snow making and water supply for fire fighting in the summer form the storage pond.

The electric and warming system would be the new system that uses wood chips thorough out the Klamath National Forest from the logging and thinning projects.
Solar planals would be installed for lighting.

The development of the area would allow thinning of the Forest in the development of the area which is needed badly in some of this area.

The final clean up of the area from the Antelope Fire of 2021, and planting of some of the area would be accomplished.

There is a Menziesia field that can be clean up for ATV recreation. This would help in Fire prevention of the area
