There is not enough room in a reel, nor are there enough words, for me to express what a joy and a privilege it has been to be the head cheerleading coach at Penn State Mont Alto for the past six years.

So I just want to say thank you.

Thank you to the student-athletes I’ve coached, the student-athletes for whom we’ve cheered, the coaches, administrators, faculty, staff, and families - including my own - everyone who has been a part of this amazing journey in some way. Penn State Mont Alto will always have a huge piece of my heart and I will always be one of cheerleading’s biggest cheerleaders.

Plus, I only live a few minutes away, and my two daughters are huge Mont Alto fans. It’s a cliche, but this isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later.

Celebrating a very special anniversary for : it was 20 years ago this month that the Penn State Mont Alto cheerleading squad won its first conference championship!

At that time, the CCAC (precursor to the PSUAC) held a conference cheerleading championship at University Park in conjunction with the men’s and women’s basketball championships. And yes, the squad cheered for the men’s basketball team and then headed to their own competition!

Mont Alto’s title would be the first of back-to-back championships, as they won a second in 2004.

Congratulations again to these talented athletes 20 years later! We’d love to hear your memories of the championship experience!
