Carolina Isshinryu Academy Monroe We are dedicated to developing the body, mind, and spirit of adults and children with the practice of Traditional Okinawan Isshinryu Karate.

Our Kyu’s are taught true skills to defend themselves, respect others, and have confidence in their abilities! CLASS SCHEDULE:

Mondays: 6:30-8:30pm -Enterprise Fitness
(All Ranks)

Wednesdays: 6:30-8:30pm - Enterprise Fitness
(All Ranks)

Thursdays: Monroe Aquatic Center
5:45 - 6:45pm - White / Yellow Belts
7:00 - 8:30pm Advanced Ranks (Orange & up)

Saturdays: 1

0:30am-12:30pm - Fairview Park “Class in the Grass”


On Mondays, classes are held at Enterprise 24-hour Fitness, 2585 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110, led by Master Don Gyr, 6th Dan and Sensei Dave Parker, 3rd Dan. Beginners 6:30-7:30 pm; intermediate/advanced 7:30-8:30 pm. On Wednesdays, classes are held at Enterprise 24-hour Fitness, 6:30-7:30 pm led by Master Don Gyr, 6th Dan. Thursday classes are held at Monroe Aquatics & Fitness Center, 2325 Hanover Dr., Monroe, North Carolina 28112, and led by Master Don Gyr, 6th Dan and Sensei Dave Parker, 3rd Dan. Beginners 5:45-6:45 pm; intermediate/advanced 7:00-8:30 pm. Do not need to be a member of MAFC or Enterprise to attend.

Our Kyu’s are really starting to implement the skills our Black Belt Instructors have provided.

Competition prep continues with earnest.

Even carved out a bit of time for Chatan Yara no Sai!

Back at it on Monday with adjusted class hours.

5:45pm-6:45pm for Yellow and White belts, 7:00pm-8:30pm for Orange Belts and above.

Yo-Dan promotion, Saturday Seminar, and visit from Master Serpico and Ms. Evelyn Serpico, Sho-Dan.

Heavy Kata night since 6 Black Belts were in house to assist with corrections.

Sparring again on Thursday nite in preparation for our upcoming Intra-“Do”-Jo event on 9/12/26.
