Good morning Piedmont rec family , please read below to clear up any confusion about the partnership between ourselves and the town of unionville and please know all community input days have exceeded the original amount and we will not have anymore .
A New Chapter for Piedmont Recreation & the Town of Unionville! 🇺🇸⚾⚽🥎🏈
As many of you know, Piedmont Recreation Association (PRA) and the Town of Unionville have come together in a new partnership designed to protect, maintain, strengthen, and grow Noel Williams Park for years and generations to come.
We are excited about our partnership with the Town as we take the next step forward for our youth sports and recreation programs and the future of our park.
Under our new partnership, the Town of Unionville became the owner of the park property, while Piedmont Recreation Association will continue operating the youth sports programs that have served our families and community for many years.
Most importantly, Piedmont Recreation Association remains responsible for operating our youth sports and recreation programs.
Looking Toward the Future — Our Park and Our Community Have a Voice
This partnership is about more than maintaining what we have today. It is also about thoughtfully planning for the future of our youth sports programs, our families, and our park.
The Town of Unionville and Piedmont Recreation Association are currently working together on a Master Plan for the park that will help establish a long-term vision for future growth, improvements, recreational opportunities, and the continued growth of this much-loved community resource.
An important part of that process is community involvement.
To date, we have held two Master Plan community involvement meetings, giving members of Piedmont Recreation Association and residents of the Town of Unionville an opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas, and priorities for the future of the park.
We have also distributed a community survey so those who were unable to attend the meetings still have an opportunity to provide their input.
These meetings and the survey are specifically designed to give Piedmont Recreation Association members and Town of Unionville residents a voice in the process — an opportunity to participate, share ideas, ask questions, and help shape the future direction of the park.
The future of this park should reflect the needs of the people who use it and the community it serves, while continuing to provide our youth a place to learn, compete, grow, and develop through the sports programs we know and love.
Parents, coaches, players, volunteers, residents, and other community members all bring valuable perspectives. The Master Plan process is designed to make sure those voices are heard as we work together to determine the future of the park.
As our community grows, the Master Plan will help us look ahead and determine how the park can grow with it — while continuing to support the youth sports programs that have been at the heart of Piedmont Recreation for generations.
The planning process may identify opportunities for:
⚾ Improved and expanded athletic facilities
⚽ Additional recreational opportunities
🏞️ Better use of existing park space
🚗 Improved parking, traffic flow, and infrastructure
👨👩👧👦 Additional amenities for families and the community
📈 Future expansion to accommodate the continued growth of Piedmont Recreation Association
💰 Grant and funding opportunities that can help turn the community’s vision into reality
The agreement also gives the Town the ability to pursue public and private grants and governmental funding related to the property and ballfields, with PRA cooperating in that process.
By combining PRA’s experience operating youth sports, the Town of Unionville’s resources and long-term planning capabilities, and, most importantly, the ideas and input of the people who use our park and live in our community, we have an opportunity to create a vision for the park that serves everyone.
For decades, this park has been a place where children learned to play sports, families gathered, friendships were formed, memories were made, and our community came together.
We want to preserve that history while also preparing for what comes next.
This is not the end of Piedmont Recreation Association. It is the beginning of a stronger partnership and an exciting new chapter for Piedmont Recreation, the Town of Unionville, and the families we serve.
PRA will continue serving our players and families, while the Town will help maintain, support, and plan for the long-term future of the property.
And through the Master Plan process, our park families and our community will have a seat at the table in helping determine what that future looks like.
One Park. One Community. One Shared Vision. One Future.
We encourage everyone who cares about the future of Piedmont Recreation and our park to participate in upcoming community meetings, complete upcoming surveys, share your ideas, and make your voice heard.
This Master Plan is an opportunity for all of us to help shape the future of our park and ensure it continues serving our children, families, and community for generations to come.
