Maybe a parent of a current player will stumble on this post and take this site over.

Probably the final thought. I haven't mentioned the pitching staff. Long ago, an instructor for a coaching clinic spoke about the key to winning games. His analogy was location, location, location for realty. Pitching, pitching, pitching for baseball. So a shout of recognition to the starters Brady, Sam, Joe, and Tanner. Brady an absolute machine. Effortless. Sam similar. Rougher start with an all conference finish. Joe back in the competitive game after a two year layoff. Joe you know i love you and your arm as a senior on the Senators would've made a 6 game difference for a team that won nearly 50 games and likely with you a state title. Welcome back. Pitch your cheeks off next year. Just dont ask me to bullpen catch something I only survived not enjoyed when you were 14. I loved watching Travis and Bob enter late. Bob I know had his arm challenges this year and fought brilliantly. Travis produced ad the team's closer and played GI Joe every game. I tried to catch that moment when he'd hustle onto the battle field to retrieve a fallen weapon. And the deer hunt during a rain delay at Nazarene, who else but the pitching corps can orchestrate that? Beyond the closing staff is an unsung mid relief corps that shows up every day not knowing whether they will mount the bump. I do feel for the parent of a mid reliever. Sergeant O. That's my guy of the year. Orrin. Effort and intensity every pitch every play every at bat. Squatting 3 or 4 games every weekend. The rock. Chark. The most effortless outfielder. Could read a comic strip at 100 yards cuz that's how you get such a jump on a ball. Next years Energizer? Bryce. Mister Do Everything. Gap power. Bunt anytime. Run down any ball in CF. Back comes Loran. Robbed this year as was Birch. Birch was leading the team offensively when a pitch broke a finger. Wrapping this up, MSUB lost some weapons but is already reloaded. Who comes out next year is the question.

What stands out? We've seen Colby's recognition. Drew garnered an all west region award. Nationally ranked top 10 in triples. Brody incredibly productive. Led the team in batting avg. Had one of the most productive series I've had the pleasure to watch at any level going back to 9 year old baseball. And on that same weekend Drew has an incredible series, too. And Mackie. Every time Mackie stepped up to the plate after the third at bat I am expecting home run or triple. And he didn't disappoint. Someone yelled from across the field "just give him second base and we'd be better off". That came from their fan base. Austin amazed me. Of course I've seen that player for a few years. A hitting streak that begins to catch your attention at 12 games. At 18 it is really a tease. 22 oh my. What do you root for? The streak or the game? The game of course. But there is that sucking sound with every at bat and every inning he appears without success. 22 goes to 24 to 25 and 26 then 27 and 28. This is amidst some must win situations. So you players made for some incredible memories. Coaching 20 seasons at various levels helped prepare me. But you definitely took my breath away. Those that return for Coach Bishop honor your graduating teammates. Work with focus. Achieve more next year. Build. Lift MSUB Yellowjackets baseball. Best thank you to give to graduates.

More accolades for MSUB baseball thru Colby's award as all west region team from the American Baseball Coaches association. Congrats Colby, coaches Bishop, Comer, and Martin. Colby has meant much for Yellowjackets baseball. He leaves a legacy of top 5 all time category records offense and defense. He will be among my alltime most-fun-to-watch-play at MSUB. With that, this year's team is the most productive offensive team in MSUB history from my reading of all tome records. That's a top to bottom of the order accomplishment. They fed off one another. I marveled at the loss of key bats due to injuries and the emergence of production from those that excelled given the chance. That punch from 1-6 in the lineup at times was just remarkable. And then whenever needed 7-9 lifted the team. So hats off to the Yellowjackets 2013 version. A slow start was more than atoned for. Some records will be endure.

Hard to write the final inning live so here's the recap. Brody hit one to the top of the fence with Bryce on second. The left fielder jumped for it and missed. He thought it went out. Either ball or glove hit the yellow home run line. So we get to within 1 with one out and Brody on second. Drew scorched a one hopper to short that was back handed. He was easily thrown out. Then Colby was up with two out. He hit a screamer to Rf. sliding catch ended the game. CWU and WOU earned their right to advance. And MSUB has no reason to hang their heads.

Story of the first game is incomplete without a mention of yesterday's bus repair. The team was expecting to get here yesterday afternoon. And practice. Instead they were stuck in Spokane until mid afternoon for a bus repair. So there was no practice. Their bats showed it.
