As things wind down for the season we are changing over to our off season hours as of tomorrow, 7am to 3:30pm Monday - Friday. There’s still plenty of ice in places and if you’re looking for something we still have bait and ice gear! Thanks to all that supported our small business during this fantastic ice season! We’ll see you next summer in the ice!

Sunday, Monday & Wednesday 6am - 2pm
Tuesdays - closed
Thursday, Friday & Saturday 6am - 5pm
We will have some Eskimo pop up shacks on sale for the rest of the month.

We still a good supply of Jack Traps, Loring pack baskets, Eskimo Pistol bits 10”, Otter Sleds, Jet Sleds and much more to end out the ice season! Bait supplies are somewhat limited - shiner availability changes by the day and we are frequently out of some sizes. Suckers are dwindling but we have some 8-12” ones available. We have lots of smelts and can bag with oxygen for your March trip north! Enjoy the warm weather while we still have a ton of ice!

Just FYI as we head into the weekend we’d like to give you a bait update! We have a good supply of smelts, small shiners, small and large suckers and crawlers. We are sold out of medium, large, XL and jumbo shiners at this time. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Some more pics from last years Youth derby! We'll be out there tomorrow 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Cochnewagon Pond in Monmouth! Just FYI pre-registrations will end at 4:30 p.m. today so please get them in at www.jacktraps.com if you plan on coming out tomorrow! We'll need to have the list finalized before we close at 5 p.m. and it makes check in much smoother in the morning if you're already on the list! That said - if you miss pre-registration and want to come we will not turn anyone away and have plenty of stuff for all that come! If you're new to ice fishing we'll have gear and helpers to drill holes and show you the way! Every child will receive a bait bucket, skimmer, net, hot hands and free bait! We'll see you all tomorrow on the ice!!

We’d like to extend a big thank you to all our amazing sponsors and volunteers that come together to make the kids derby this coming Saturday possible!! Also a couple things we’d like to mention for derby day:
1st. Parking at the launch fills in fast and ultimately spills over back to the sides of Main st. Please be respectful of local homeowners and businesses and do not park in their driveways or parking lots without permission! Also be sure not to block any roadways, entrances or other vehicles. We have a loading and unloading area at the boat launch so you can drop your gear and go find parking.
2nd. With the snow coming Friday night Monmouth Public Works will be clearing snow in the morning. Give them some time. There is no fish weigh in, there is no competition and there are plenty of goodies for all that come. We do not start check ins until 8am. You do not need to be there at 4am and be in the way while the town is trying to clear snow. They have assured us they will do why they can to have things cleared the best they can by daylight.
3. Make sure you check in at the derby tent! Even though you registered you MUST check in that you are present to be eligible for any giveaway!

Pre register online for free at www.jacktraps.com ASAP so we can plan accordingly! On top of the free bait bucket, skimmer, net, hot hands and bait for every child 12 and under a few lucky participants will be drawn at random for the following amazing prizes:

Here's some pics from last years derby fun! We'll be doing it again this coming Saturday, February 21st 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Cochnewagon Pond at the boat launch for our fifteenth annual Jack Traps Youth Ice Fishing Derby!!! Get those free pre-registration forms filled out and submitted ASAP at www.jacktraps.com! This is a completely FREE event for children 12 and under!! We'll have enough giveaways for up to 600 children so don't be shy to come by! Every child that participates receives a bait bucket, skimmer, net, hot hands and free bait! Some lucky participants will be drawn at random at 11 a.m. for larger prizes, including 20 lifetime fishing licenses, Jack Traps, Loring Baskets, Augers, Pop ups and much more! Monmouth Fish & Game will be serving up free hot dogs and hot cocoa for all! This is not a competition - there is no fish weigh-in - it's all about getting children outdoors with their friends and family and having FUN FISHING!! We look forward to seeing you all on the pond Saturday!!

Jack Traps Youth Derby Saturday Feb. 21st 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Cochnewagon Pond in Monmouth!! This is a 100% FREE ice fishing event for children 12 and under! Pre register at jacktraps.com! Every child will receive an ice fishing prize and free bait upon arrival! A number of lucky participants will be drawn at random for bigger prizes and lifetime fishing licenses - as many as 20!! Monmouth Fish and Game will be cooking free hot dogs, hot cocoa and serving snacks for all that attend! We’ll have volunteers there drilling holes and showing folks the ropes if need be! There is no fish weigh in and this is not a competition! This is a community orientated event designed to get kids having fun in the outdoors with their friends and family! All children must be accompanied by an adult!! We look forward to seeing you all there again this year!
