The ladies took care of business in the first 2 games of the Nevada Diamond Classic!
Here’s the recaps for each game:
1st Game:
Central Iowa Venom 13U Grabs Lead in Third Inning for Victory Over Jasper County Fusion.
Central Iowa Venom 13U stole the lead late and defeated Jasper County Fusion 11-3 on Saturday. The game was tied at three with Central Iowa Venom 13U batting in the bottom of the third when Rylee Riesberg doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Jasper County Fusion got on the board in the first inning.
Central Iowa Venom 13U notched four runs in the fourth inning. Delaney Kinter, Lauren Gustofson, Riesberg, and Kali Nelson powered the big inning with RBIs.
Gustofson pitched Central Iowa Venom 13U to victory. She surrendered three runs on six hits over four innings, striking out three and walking one.
Central Iowa Venom 13U racked up ten hits on the day. Riesberg, Nelson, Gustofson, and Katie Kirschman each racked up multiple hits for Central Iowa Venom 13U. Riesberg led Central Iowa Venom 13U with three hits in three at bats.
2nd Game:
Mackenzie James Drives in Four as Central Iowa Venom 13U Wins Over Osky Smoke 14U
Mackenzie James was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Saturday, driving in four on three hits to lead Central Iowa Venom 13U past Osky Smoke 14U 16-1 on Saturday. James drove in runs on a double in the second and a double in the third.
Central Iowa Venom 13U tallied eight runs in the second inning. Central Iowa Venom 13U's offense in the inning came from singles by Larissa Miller, Delaney Kinter, Lauren Gustofson, and Rylee Riesberg and doubles by James and Jamison Kain.
Kain got the win for Central Iowa Venom 13U. She went two innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out two and walking one. Katie Kirschman threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Central Iowa Venom 13U collected 19 hits on the day. James, Kain, Preci Ortiz, Kali Nelson, Gustofson, Claire Suarez, and Riesberg each racked up multiple hits for Central Iowa Venom 13U. Kain and James all had three hits to lead Central Iowa Venom 13U. Central Iowa Venom 13U was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Suarez made the most plays with three.
