The ladies took care of business in the first 2 games of the Nevada Diamond Classic!

Here’s the recaps for each game:

1st Game:
Central Iowa Venom 13U Grabs Lead in Third Inning for Victory Over Jasper County Fusion.

Central Iowa Venom 13U stole the lead late and defeated Jasper County Fusion 11-3 on Saturday. The game was tied at three with Central Iowa Venom 13U batting in the bottom of the third when Rylee Riesberg doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Jasper County Fusion got on the board in the first inning.

Central Iowa Venom 13U notched four runs in the fourth inning. Delaney Kinter, Lauren Gustofson, Riesberg, and Kali Nelson powered the big inning with RBIs.

Gustofson pitched Central Iowa Venom 13U to victory. She surrendered three runs on six hits over four innings, striking out three and walking one.

Central Iowa Venom 13U racked up ten hits on the day. Riesberg, Nelson, Gustofson, and Katie Kirschman each racked up multiple hits for Central Iowa Venom 13U. Riesberg led Central Iowa Venom 13U with three hits in three at bats.

2nd Game:
Mackenzie James Drives in Four as Central Iowa Venom 13U Wins Over Osky Smoke 14U

Mackenzie James was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Saturday, driving in four on three hits to lead Central Iowa Venom 13U past Osky Smoke 14U 16-1 on Saturday. James drove in runs on a double in the second and a double in the third.

Central Iowa Venom 13U tallied eight runs in the second inning. Central Iowa Venom 13U's offense in the inning came from singles by Larissa Miller, Delaney Kinter, Lauren Gustofson, and Rylee Riesberg and doubles by James and Jamison Kain.

Kain got the win for Central Iowa Venom 13U. She went two innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out two and walking one. Katie Kirschman threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Central Iowa Venom 13U collected 19 hits on the day. James, Kain, Preci Ortiz, Kali Nelson, Gustofson, Claire Suarez, and Riesberg each racked up multiple hits for Central Iowa Venom 13U. Kain and James all had three hits to lead Central Iowa Venom 13U. Central Iowa Venom 13U was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Suarez made the most plays with three.

Central Iowa Venom 13U Out-Hits Competition, Yet Kewanee Ballhawks '04 Takes The Win

Central Iowa Venom 13U fell 4-2 to Kewanee Ballhawks '04 on Saturday despite out-hitting them five to two.

Jamison Kain got the start for Venom Central Iowa Venom 13U. She lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out three.

Claire Suarez led Venom Central Iowa Venom 13U with two hits in two at bats.

Late Score Costs Central Iowa Venom 13U Against QC Lady Hitmen 04

Saturday's game against QC Lady Hitmen 04 was a heartbreaker for Central Iowa Venom 13U, as they lost the lead late in a 13-3defeat. The game was tied at three with QC Lady Hitmen 04 batting in the bottom of the third when Caldwell singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Central Iowa Venom 13U struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing QC Lady Hitmen 04, giving up 14 runs.

Lauren Gustofson was on the mound for Central Iowa Venom 13U. She allowed seven hits and eight runs over two innings. Katie Kirschman threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Larissa Miller and Mackenzie James each collected one hit to lead Central Iowa Venom 13U.

Central Iowa Venom 13U Victorious Dubuque Thunder Thanks to Fourth Inning Boost

Central Iowa Venom 13U scored ten runs in the fourth on its way to a 16-1 victory over Dubuque Thunder on Saturday. The offensive onslaught came from doubles by Jamison Kain, Mackenzie James, and Claire Suarez, singles by Larissa Miller and Kain, and an error on a ball put in play by Rylee Riesberg and Lauren Gustofson.

Central Iowa Venom 13U opened up scoring in the first inning. Delaney Kinter drove in three when she homered.

Central Iowa Venom 13U put up ten runs in the fourth inning. Central Iowa Venom 13U batters contributing to the big inning included Kain, Miller, James, Suarez, Riesberg, and Gustofson, all driving in runs in the inning.

Kain earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Central Iowa Venom 13U. She went three innings, allowing one run on one hit and striking out four. Katie Kirschman threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Central Iowa Venom 13U scattered 12 hits in the game. Kain, Preci Ortiz, Miller, James, and Kinter each had multiple hits for Central Iowa Venom 13U. Kain led Central Iowa Venom 13U with three hits in three at bats. Central Iowa Venom 13U didn't commit a single error in the field. James had the most chances in the field with six.

Team Venom will be heading east to the Quad Cities this afternoon as we get ready to play in the Lady Hitmen Classic on Saturday and Sunday.

Pool play begins on Saturday.
8:00 Venom vs. Dubuque Thunder
11:00 Venom vs. Quad City Lady Hitmen
2:00 Venom vs. Kewanee Ballhawks

Looks like we're going to have great weather and some strong opponents to battle!

Your 14B Champions of the Jasper County Challenge! 🏆🥇
These girls...I don’t know if we could be any more proud of how they battled all weekend long. Two incredibly tough games today against two great opponents, battling back and forth, and fighting to take the lead to advance and win the championship game 3-1. It was all smiles afterwards! Way to go Venom! 👊🏻 It’s going to be a great season!
