Robbery Arrest
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at approximately 4:30 AM, Deputies from Davie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of damage to property at Victory Arms, located at 1115 Yadkinville Road in Mocksville. Upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle that had been driven into the front entrance of the business. Deputies secured the scene and confirmed the vehicle was unoccupied. No entry into the business was made.
Witness information indicated that two individuals fled the scene in a separate vehicle prior to deputies' arrival. No suspects were located on scene, and the business owner was notified of the incident. During the investigation at the scene, it was determined that a total of five suspects were involved in the attempted break-in and fled the scene in a white Hyundai Elantra. The gray/silver Hyundai Elantra that attempted to ram into the business was disabled and left at the scene.
DCSO Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene personnel responded to the scene. The Mocksville Fire Department also responded because the vehicle left at the scene was leaking gasoline as a result of the collision with the front of the building.
A Flock camera was utilized to obtain the tag for the vehicle used by the suspects to flee the scene. Officers for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department went to the addresses of the registered owners of the vehicles. The vehicle owners were unaware that their vehicles were stolen. The white Hyundai was located later in the day by officers in the area of Remount Road, Charlotte. The vehicle was towed back to the DCSO to be processed for evidence.
Detectives from DCSO and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department shared information throughout the investigation and were able to locate multiple copies of surveillance footage from the business, locations where the vehicles were stolen, and other locations.
Interviews and searches conducted in Charlotte led to identifying three of the five suspects. Felony warrants have been issued for Kymani Lamont Dawkins, an 18-year-old male, of Charlotte, for Attempted Breaking or Entering Building and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. Dawkins is currently being held at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Detention Center.
Juvenile petitions are being issued presently on two of the juveniles, also from Charlotte, for Attempted Breaking or Entering Building and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. Their names and information are being withheld due to their age.
The investigation is ongoing at this time, and anyone with information is asked to call the Davie County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 336-751-6238 or [email protected].
