What a amazing turning out for the Youker Motorsports Mad Dawg Springpalooza and Farm/WDRA Points Race action. The Farm was blessed with great weather (no Rain) and a record total car count of 310 entries.
Picking up his first Mad Dawg 4.50 victory out of 19 dawg entries was J.P. Miller of Waynesboro, VA in his “Skull Crusher” Wilkins Powered Chevy Beretta over Hernshaw, WV’s Jay Kirk in his ’68 Chevy Camaro. The reaction times was nothing to brag about as both finalist was late at the tree. Kirk had the better light but got beat out with Miller’s 4.5057 ET @ 155 MPH run to nip the Chris Cline Race Cars Camaro in the lights.
The regaining Mad Dawg Champion Tim West of Asheville, NC put in his best performance of the year with a great semi-finals finish in his Fulton powered Jim West & Sons ’63 Chevy Corvette.
Taking the Garry”Hooter” Hoots #1 qualifying honors was Tim Siler of Maiden, NC in his Siler Motorsports 1950 Studebaker with a great -.0005 off the 4.50 index mark run.
Mr. Showtime Siler would make it to the quarter-finals were Kirk ended his charge.
The “GunSlinger” Andy Beal would be the other quarterfinalist in his all motored Beal Racing Engines ’63 Chevy Corvette.
The James “MF” Bunton Memorial Burn Out King Award winners was 2021 Dawg Champ Chad Tilley in his TnT Express Chevy Beretta in Round one and new Dawg racer Eddie Smith, Jr in his beautiful ’68 Chevy Camaro in round two of qualifying.
Marty Hurd in his “Raven” ’68 Chevy Camaro picked up the Chris Leonard “Best Winning Package” award in round one and Tim West in his TM build Corvettet was the round two winner,
Oak Ridge, NC’s Mike Westmoreland in his Ford Mustang and Winston-Salem, NC’s Chad Tilley in his Chevy Beretta were the MJ’s Closest Run of Race winner in round one.
The curfew caught the TOP and Foot Brake classes but here’s who was left in the running for the win.
Out of 142 TOP Eliminator entries it came down to Nick Smith, Ernie Humes III, Tommy Plott, Jamie Holston and Steven Morrison for the split.
Foot Brake had Virginia’s Tim Douglas, Gray Kimble and Adam Ellis the remaining racers out of the 90 some Foot Brakers on hand.
We were able to get the JR Dragster, Street and Teen Racer classes completed before time was up.
A pair of Virginia racers made up the JR Dragster finals with Forest Radford picking up the win over Colin Holston. Picking up the Street victory was the Convertible Chevy Camaro of Pfafftown, NC’s Nathan Dowless over 2024 Street Champ Matt Naves, Jr in his Honda from Salisbury, NC. Third generation racer Cody Perryman of Clemmons, NC scored his first Farm Teens class win of the year defeating new Teen racer Emma Koch of Winston-Salem, NC.
