Sight fished a good one yesterday. 24 lb. This is my largest blackfish I have caught by sight. She was on a beacon and was glued to one of the pilings. She came off a few times to look at my shrimp and even spooked on one when she got close to the bait. After at least 20 casts she decided to eat and luckily came away from the structure and into the boat. The new Blackjack boat is doing a great job and is already proven to be a fish catching machine. These fish are so fun!

Lots of fun with these guys. Mama usually comes with us, but decided to stay home this time. Lots of trout and puppy drum action early led to a steady redfish bite later. Tons of laughs and new memories were made.

One of my favorite fish to chase is the triple tail or “blackfish” as many call them. They fight incredibly hard and taste absolutely delicious. You have to work hard for them, but the reward is worth every minute of the chase.

These fish are always on my radar and we will look for the “low hanging fruit” as I call it while running around as often you will see one hiding under any kind of floating object. However, this year I am offering a couple of special trips for those who want to focus more time on this sometimes elusive animal.

The “Combination Trip” includes a daybreak starting time where we focus on speckled trout, red fish and the normal targets until mid morning, then we focus all our efforts on blackfish for the rest of the trip. This is typically a full day’s charter so bring lunch.

The “Gentleman’s Hours” trip is a lazy day where we will delay our launch time until mid morning and focus solely on blackfish until mid afternoon. This will be considered a half day charter but you still need plenty of snacks.

The new rig has turned out to be a fish catching machine. We are catching plenty of trout, reds, puppy drum, some big black drum, flounder and the triple tail are going off as well. Topwaters, soft plastics and live bait are all producing. June is pretty much booked but I have some availability in July.
