Golf Tryout Announcement

1. Golf tryouts will be held after first quarter grades have been posted.

2. All dragonfly paperwork must be complete and you must email Coach Gates at [email protected]. Failure to complete either of these will result in no tryout.

3. The Men's team tryout will ONLY be open to 9th thru 12th grade students.

4. The ladies tryouts will be open to upcoming 7th graders and above that are in the Baker School District.

5. There will be a $10 tryout fee for all individuals.

This summer, the AHSAA hosted their annual All-Star event in Montgomery. The event brings in the top upcoming seniors from around the state to compete against each other in the Team style event.

We were excited to have one of our own selected to the group in Carson Akridge. Carson will be graduating this year and his Junior season was quite an outstanding performance.

Congratulations Carson on a great junior season and we look forward to watching you play this year!

Here are the highlights of his season:

•MCPSS County Low Medalist- 70 (-2)
•MCPSS County Champions for the 6th year in a row
•Shot career low in 9 and 18 hole matches
33 (-3) and 70 (-2)
•2025-26 AHSAA All-Star
•T3 in Andalusia (74)

•AP Scholar with Distinction
•College Board National Finalist
•5 Qualifying AP scores (four of them are 4s)
•Future NTHS inductee
•4.25 weighted GPA

Today is a special day for a special senior. Carolynn Do thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to our program. After playing 3 seasons and dealing with multiple knee injuries she had to cut her senior season short and have season ending surgery. Throughout the season she took care of our ladies team by providing snacks, drinks, guideance, taking pictures and showing up and supporting. Thank you Carolynn for everything and we wish you the Best moving forward. You truly are a great example of what it means to be a Hornet!

Congratulations to Kaylee for making the All-County team for the 3rd consecutive season. We are so proud to have you representing us! Here is a snapshot of the incredible season she had!

Kaylee put together a great tournament in some tough conditions today. For her first time and as one of the youngest players in the field she posted a solid top 10 finish in one of the strongest, if not the strongest division in high school golf! The future is very bright for our freshman and we can't wait to see how far this game takes her!
