From Houston to China: A Summer of Growth Through Badminton 🏸🇺🇸🇨🇳
The summer of 2026 has been an unforgettable one for the young athletes of Twin Tigers.
In addition to our annual Summer Camp in Houston, we proudly launched our very first China Training Camp, giving our players the opportunity to train inside one of China’s professional sports schools. They practiced alongside talented Chinese junior athletes, experienced the country’s elite training system, and broadened both their skills and perspectives.
To make this opportunity possible, Coach Yang reached out to his alma mater, Hangzhou Sports School, and invited his former teammate, Coach Gang Chen, to lead part of the program.
Coach Chen is a former World Junior Champion (1994) and Asian Champion (1998). Throughout his distinguished coaching career, he has served with the national teams of South Korea, Poland, Indonesia, and France, and is currently the Head Coach of the Shaoxing Badminton Team in Zhejiang, China.
This summer, the newly opened Shaoxing Sports School badminton training center provided an outstanding environment for our camp. Coach Chen personally guided every athlete, sharing technical skills, tactical awareness, and the training philosophy of China’s professional badminton system.
More than a training camp, this was a journey of growth. By learning from outstanding players in China, our athletes gained valuable experience, discovered new goals, and returned to the U.S. better prepared for the upcoming tournament season.

2026年的暑假，对 Twin Tigers 的孩子们来说意义非凡。
除了我们在休斯顿每年举办的暑期夏令营，今年我们首次组织孩子们回到中国，走进专业体校，体验国内青少年羽毛球训练体系，与国内同龄优秀球员共同训练、交流、比赛，开阔视野，提升竞技水平。
为了促成这次难得的学习机会，杨一铭教练联系了自己的母校——杭州市少体校，并邀请了队友陈刚教练共同参与本次训练。
陈刚教练曾获得1994年第二届世界青年羽毛球锦标赛男单冠军、1998年亚洲羽毛球锦标赛男单冠军。陈刚在2007年前往韩国国家羽毛球队担任单打主教练李矛的助理。2008年11月，受邀执教波兰国家羽毛球队直到2009年9月。2011年3月，李矛前往印尼担任教练而接任其单打主教练职务。2018年7月，再度收到邀请，前往法国国家羽毛球队担任单打主教练。2020年3月，浙江省绍兴市羽毛球队成立，陈刚受邀返国担任该队总教练。
今年，绍兴市少体校启用了两座全新的羽毛球训练馆，为本次夏令营提供了优质的训练环境。训练期间，陈刚教练更亲自下场指导，从技术动作到比赛意识，耐心帮助每一位孩子，让大家近距离感受国内专业队的训练理念与标准。
我们希望，这不仅是一段训练经历，更是一段成长之旅。通过与国内优秀球员切磋交流，孩子们能够认识差距、激发潜能，并将所学带回美国，为下半年的各项赛事做好更充分的准备。
