There is a guy in this town that everyone knows. You can say his name, and just about ANY ONE will know of, worked with, camped with, partied with, ate with, and laughed with Mark Colyer. He is one of my favorite people on this earth, and he has left this earth and us with heavy hearts. I was hoping to see him again and if I had, I would have told him how much we enjoyed his "Dad" jokes, his smile, and his general love of life and everything in it. I'm guessing there will be many words written about Mark Colyer, and they might need a stadium to hold his memorial, but as for me and mine, we will miss him terribly. It makes me sad that he will no longer tell me about picking up his granddaughter at the bus stop. It was the joy of his day. He was a man who had to raise sons on his own, and my Dad was one of those men. They are a special breed because they had to do it all. No confusion about what had to happen, just the clear knowledge that it had to get it done and done with a smile and humor and love. His leaves a legacy of love and humor, a long, storied history of back-country packing, and the wonderful stories he told that will live on in my memory and in the collective memory of our community. Walk with God, Mark Colyer, because God will appreciate you.

Supremely Pi**ed OFF at Fedex right now. How in the hell can I get a hold of my UPS driver, have him meet me with packages and Fedex, essentially, hides their drivers from the public! You can't get a Fedex driver on the horn to SAVE YOUR LIFE. They are protected by their company so that when they screw up and don't leave the package next door when they come before business hours, you can't contact them to get the damn package to your front door. This is exactly why we do not use Fedex to ship our products.
