I always said, "it's just plastic wood, and metal that will sit and collect dust". It's the process and journey that will mean something. It's been a great journey, Montana! Our last featured clinician is a Montana product and Big Sky High School graduate, Israel Moreno. Moreno is a 2X Montana State Champion, USA Folkstyle National Champion, and Dave Schultz Excellence Award winner (Montana). In his freshman year at UNI, Israel posted a 21-4 overall record. Moreno won two tournaments and placed in all five competitions. One of Moreno's highlights in freshman year was upsetting the #18 ranked wrestler at the Soldier Salute on his way to a 5th-place finish. This camp is loaded with high-level clinicians and wrestlers! 157 Big 12 Champion, Ryder Downey will be at our June 17-20 camp next week! As a redshirt freshman and 5th seed at the NCAA's, Downey went 3-2 in Kansas City. Downey posted a 23-6 overall record, 7-0 in Big 12 duals. Downey was a 4X place winner in Iowa and clinched a state title his senior year. Ryder earned All-American status with a 3rd place finish in Freestyle at the U23 in Geneva, OH 3 weeks ago! Excited to have this hammer out at camp next week! Wyatt Volker is the U23 97kg Greco National Champion and is headed to Tirana, Albania, on October 21-27 to represent the USA at the U23 World Championships! Wyatt has a huge list of wrestling accomplishments, here are a few he has done. He was a 2024 NCAA qualifier, 5th at the Big 12 Championship. In 2023, was 5th in the world in Greco and had an amazing redshirt year at Northern Iowa with a 14-4 overall record. Wyatt Is also a Junior National Champion in Greco, Freestyle All-American, and Folkstyle National Champion. He is also a 2X Iowa High School State Champion. Drew Foster is an Assistant Head Coach at the University of Northern Iowa who helped their team outscore every other team at the U23 Men's Freestyle Nationals champions in Geneva, Ohio. Northern Iowa had 8 All-Americans in the U23 Division, and earned 3 World Team member spots with Wyatt Volker, Cory Land, and John Gunderson! The coaching staff at Northern Iowa are doing some great things! As a wrestler, Drew was a D-1 National Champion at 184 lbs., 2X All-American, and 3X NCAA qualifier.
