Missoula Telemark Challenge

Freeheelin' fun! This fun series consists of six evening dual slalom tele races held at Missoula’s Montana Snowbowl. Races take place each Thursday night at 7pm.

Annual dual slalom semi-competitive/mostly-awesome telemark racing for 5 weeks in ~Jan & February at Snowbowl MT Register: https://forms.gle/o6ncFj6sk6vvJCHc8 Each evening race consists of two dual slalom runs. Racers are paired based on their fastest, most recent single times. Team points are awarded each week based on the combined finish times in each pairing. World Cup Points are also awarded e

ach week for the 10 fastest individual men and women. Final team and individual awards are given out at the final race party, along with awards for best individual and team costumes. The telemark races are great for skiers of all ability levels and are perfect for improving skiing skills. Each team is composed of 4 racers and has a sub on hand. The sub is welcome to ski but might not compete if the team already has 4 folks on the roster for the night. Most teams find a local sponsor to donate all or part of the $350.00 team entry fee. All lift tickets will be included in the entry fee. Skiers also have the option of registering as a “Hired Gun”. Hired guns may race each week for individual points, and will hopefully also be used as substitutes for teams that are missing a racer and can’t field a full team. Hello, All you beautiful Telemarkers! This is your Tuesday reminder to get your rosters to Rugh! email [email protected] The theme this week is Rainbow Sparkle Unicorn! If you have any swag donations, please bring them up to W***y at the races! This year, the final party will be held on FRIDAY, Feb. 21st! This is a super fun night with races, demos, a DJ, pizza, and salad. You are absolutely welcome to bring friends to celebrate and cheer on the racers (the only caveat is they need to buy their own pizza). We will start the evening off a little earlier than usual. Try to be up at Snowbowl by 5:30 for help with set-up and THE HUMAN TELE SLALOM. What is the Human Slalom? Check out this video from last year

What a FUN night of racing! There were fantastic costumes, fast times, epic wipe-outs, and shenanigans! To check out the results, head over to https://www.telerace.org/. We want to shout out to Bishop Telemark for sponsoring the UM University of Montana Telemark Skiing Club this season! They have sent several pairs of skis you can demo at the races (with bindings that will fit 75mm and NTN). AND the Bishop Telemark crew plans to be at our finals with MORE demo gear!

WOW! What a great first race of the season! Thank you for coming out and racing. Seeing familiar faces and meeting new winter friends was a joy!

We got some fantastic suggestions for costume themes. We will announce a new theme from the suggestion basket each week- we might even combine a few! Next week, the theme is (drumroll please......)

Now, for a bit of housekeeping: Please email your team roster to [email protected] no later than Tuesday! If you do not have a team or are unsure of your team, please let us know that you will attend and mention that you would like a team!

We have decided to start the races at 6:30. To help ensure that this happens, please check in and be ready to ski by then. Also, we would like to ask each team to help with gate setup and take down. Next week, New Fields has offered to be our support staff! (Give it up for NEW FIEDLS!! WHOOOOP WHOOOP)

Missoula Telemark Challenge 2025 Begins TONIGHT!!!!
Tonight is the seed race. This is a one-and-done, single-racer event. We plan to kick things off by 7:00 pm. To help things run smoothly, please,
1. Have your teammates sign this waiver: https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/osauqe2tnekudj3wsswnmz/web/
2. Email [email protected] with tonight's roster (if you haven't already registered).

Additionally,
1. Mark your calendars for the tele race dates. We will ask that team captains send their rosters to THIS EMAIL no later than Tuesday before a race. This will give the AMAZING Beth and Dave Rugh time to create the roster!
DATES: Week #1 - Thursday January 16th
#2 - Thursday January 23rd
#3 - Thursday January 30th
#4 - Thursday February 6th
#5 - Thursday February 13th
#6 - Friday February 21st (Telefinal + Party)

2. We ask that teams help out with course setup, timing, and take down. Please chat with your teammates and pick a race to help out!
