Salmonflies have been absolutely killer this year, and the fish have been absolutely gorging themselves on bugs. dries, explosive eats, and fish like this are what make this hatch so special. There really isn’t much better than watching a big fish come up and sip a size 6 fly.

Here comes May.

It’s usually a bit of a gamble this time of year with rising freestone rivers, but this season is shaping up a little different. We’ll see some higher, off-color water, but there are still plenty of fish feeding if you know where to look.
