The Missoula YMCA will be free and open to all on January 1st!!

If any of you have been wanting to try out SHiNE Dance Fitness and our strength training program, UPLIFT, this is the day! Lizzie will be teaching a class at 4:00 pm: first half will be UPLIFT, second half will be SHiNE.

½ STRONG + ½ SASSY = TOTAL FUN!!

So whether you’re making New Year Resolutions or not, come start your new year off with a bang at the newly renovated Missoula YMCA!

Registration is currently open for the next class session through the Lifelong Learning Center, which begins on January 5th. There are three SHiNE classes to choose from:
- Mondays at 5:45 p.m. (almost full!) and Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. at Dickinson School
- Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in Frenchtown

SHiNE Dance Fitness is officially part of Missoula on Main this year!! Formerly called First Night, Missoula on Main is a wonderful community event put on every year by Arts Missoula, and we are so excited to be participating. So let’s put 2025 in the rearview mirror and launch the new year with an epic dance party!!

SHiNE Dance Fitness is returning to Frenchtown!!

WHAT: By popular demand, the Lifelong Learning Center is bringing SHiNE back to Frenchtown! SHiNE classes use popular songs paired with original choreography to give you a full body workout including both cardio and toning. No dance experience is needed and no judgements are rendered. So bring along your friends to the workout that feels like a party!

WHEN: Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. from October 29th through December 17th

WHERE: Frenchtown Elementary School Little Gym

WHO: Instructor Carla and YOU!

HOW: Register at missoulaclasses.com beginning September 29th

WHY: Because exercise does not have to be a punishment - it can be a celebration of your body’s ability to groove, boogie, jive, jump, sashay, shake, and shimmy!

Our class at Sunday Streets has been cancelled! Sunday Streets is still happening today on the Northside, but since the air quality is deemed "unhealthy for sensitive groups", our class scheduled for 1:00 pm today is cancelled. We will still be playing music and dancing at our booth location, so stop by to say hi!!

Who’s ready to dance in the Montana sunshine?? We are, and we want YOU to join us! Sunday Streets, a free community event put on by Missoula in Motion, is happening on the Northside this weekend and we have a free SHiNE Dance Fitness class from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Cooley Street. Also stop by our booth right around the corner on Mitchell anytime from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. for fun and dancing with our instructors. (The map below shows both locations.) Bring your friends, bring your family, bring your co-worker or neighbor or boss or grandma – everyone is welcome to dance and frolic in the streets!

The Demon Hunters have arrived!! This month's new choreography release from SHiNE HQ has TWO songs from the movie: How It's Done and Golden. Now instead of just singing these super-catchy songs, we all get to dance to them! Look for them soon in a class near you!!

While the start of the new school year may have the kids groaning, we at SHiNE are jumping for joy! The Fall Semester for the University of Montana begins on Monday, and that means more SHiNE and UPLIFT classes! The Fitness and Recreation Center at UM has SHiNE on Mondays at 4:00pm and Thursdays at 5:30pm. UPLIFT happens on Wednesdays at 4:00pm and Sundays at 9:30am. UM students, faculty, staff, and alumni alike can spend an hour building their muscles or frolicing away their back-to-school stress and worries – let us commence with the dancing!

Remember childhood summers filled with running, jumping, spinning, and playing in the sunshine on quiet residential streets without a care in the world? You can experience that again on September 7th at Sunday Streets!

During Sunday Streets, the roads are closed to vehicle traffic and people are free to walk, roll, skate, and dance as they please! Join in on the fun as the street in front of our Shine Dance Fitness Missoula booth becomes a dance floor hosting a b***y-shakin’ party! With the whole road being ours to shimmy, shake, snake, grapevine, chasse, pas de bo***ée, starburst, squat, lunge, groove, and boogie, this event perfectly embodies the freedom and joy that dance can bring to your life. Can’t wait to see you all there!

Sunday Streets Missoula is coming to the NORTHSIDE!
Walk or roll around the 1-mile loop anytime between 12-4pm. Take a FREE fitness class. Do an activity with a local organization set up in the street. Stop and listen to some music (Bands will be set up on Defoe) or get a snack from one of the many food vendors set up along the route! There is something for everyone - don't miss Missoula favorite open streets event this year! (September 7th)

It's here, THE event of the summer: the Western Montana Fair!! And our Missoula instructors are hosting two free SHiNE classes at the Fair this weekend. We are going to be rockin’ the Historic Plaza at the center of the fairgrounds on Saturday at noon and Sunday at 3:00 pm. No matter if you prefer sassy jazz, fluid ballet, or gritty hip hop songs, SHiNE playlists full of trending music will have you shaking your b***y in no time! Whether you’re a regular SHiNE enthusiast or just want to check out what all the hype is about, come join us on the dancefloor!!
