Frozen Chosin Disc Golf

Frozen Chosin Disc Golf A Michiana DGC fond of winters and nut deep snow. "Disc golf doesn't have a season." Semper Fidelis! And there are always the parties. We teach others what we can.

We are dedicated to truly "growing the sport" of disc golf through our actions and intentions.Anyone who shows a love for disc golf and treats people and parks with respect can join, regardless of skill. We are a club, not a team...which means we do NOT pay out to players. Members join for comradery with like-minded people, club discounts, cool swag, and being part of something greater. Whether be

ginner, professional, or unknowing, if we can improve your game we will try. We do NOT deface park property or litter...even if there are only 2 trash cans on the course. We will, however, cover up tags, peel off stickers, sand off ace dates, and gather up trash when we can. If the pad has snow on it....we shovel it. If a park doesn't care about it's course, it is up to us to police it. The spelling of our name is intentional. The founding members of our club are Marines. The "Frozen Chosin" were Marines from the 1st Marine Division in the Korean War at the "Chosin" Reservoir. In November 1950, during the coldest winter North Korea had experienced in 100 years, U.N. forces were in pursuit of North Korean troops, when they were surprised by China’s entry into the Korean War. The U.N. forces, most of them U.S. Marines from the 1st Marine Division, fought for survival. Surrounded and outnumbered 8-to-1 by Chinese forces, the Marines embarked upon a 78-mile journey to the Sea of Japan to reconnect with American forces. The journey would take 13 days. Cut off from support, the Marines were still able to fight their way through 10 Chinese infantry divisions (120,00-150,000). These Marines had minimal supplies, suffered loss of limb, hypothermia, and were harassed constantly by the red army. The Frozen Chosin DGC plays in all inclement weather to honor the Frozen Chosin and remind ourselves that no matter how bad we think we have it, some had it way worse....and prevailed. Semper Fidelis.

“Retreat? Hell, We Just Got Here!”

Today, we remember the legacy of Marines who fought at the Battle of Belleau Wood during World War I, helping to cement the Corps' reputation as the world's premier fighting force.

During the intense battle, the 4th Marine Brigade, comprised of the 5th and 6th Marine Regiments, and the 6th Machine Gun Battalion, fought aggressively through the wheat fields and woodlands in France, helping to stop a major German advance toward Paris in 1918. The Battle of Belleau Wood became a major turning point for the Corps, providing Marines with experience in large scale operations.

Legend has it that Marines were later called Teufel Hunden ("Devil Dogs" in German) due to the relentless tenacity while taking enemy positions during the battle. Because of the Marines’ unwavering commitment, the 5th and 6th Marine Regiments were awarded the French Croix de Guerre, an award presented to individuals or units for acts of valor and bravery on the battlefield.

Semper Fidelis.
