Itโs with great sadness that we announce the death of Marcus โMarkโ Everett Huff, 75, formerly of Minot, North Dakota. He died unexpectedly but peacefully on April 24, 2026, at his home in Roseville, California.
Mark was born October 22, 1950, in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Guy and Bernice (Anderson) Huff. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School with the Class of 1969. He went on to study at Minot State College.
From a young age, Mark was an avid sportsman, which turned into a life-long career. At the tender age of five, Mark shot his first pheasant. At the age of 13, he shot 97 out of 100 targets to win his second straight Midwest International Trapshooting Tournament. Over the years, Mark enjoyed fishing and hunting trips in numerous states and countries, but his real joy was hunting on the prairie in North Dakota.
Mark was a great athlete. In high school, he earned letters in football, basketball and baseball (all years). He was passionate about hunting and shooting and competed in trap, s***t, and sporting clays. He started shooting with his grandpa at age five and won his first competitive shoot at age ten. Over his lifetime, he shot 81,500 registered targets through the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) and thousands of unregistered targets.

At age 23, he was the youngest individual hired by Wi******er Arms. This position moved his family to Saginaw, MI. Then, in 1983 he accepted a job at Outdoor Sports Inc. in Sacramento, CA. Over his 42-year career, he also worked for AcuSport Corp., Ellett Brothers Inc, and Maschmedt & Associates. He especially enjoyed selling Wi******er, Re*****on, and Leupold products. His dedication, work ethic and business sense have been an integral part of his success.
After retiring in 2016, he focused on his family while providing consulting and shooting lessons to many around the country. Weekly, he spent time at C**n Creek, now Golden State Shooting Center, as an NSCA certified instructor. He was excited to share his knowledge and watch others become confident in their ability to shoot. He referenced the gun club as his โaromatherapyโ sessions. To this day, Mark is known as a legend in the industry.
He met his future wife, Clarice Bjone, at age 15 in Jr. High. They were married on April 19, 1969, at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. During their 57 years of marriage (60 yrs together), they enjoyed family, traveling, and quiet evenings by the pond watching their Koi fish.
Mark had a deep love for his family and friends, always there to listen and give a hug. He loved to hunt & shoot, and it was the memories made each time that he treasured. He also loved his 1949 Ford truck but most importantly spending time with his friends, family, and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will forever be โPapa.โ
Markโs family and friends will remember him for his gentle spirit, quick wit and ability to divert any repercussions from his jokes. He was a one-of-a-kind guy who made people laugh and was so convincing even while possibly stretching the truth!
He was reliable, protective, deeply caring, and just a little bit stubborn. Though he will be deeply missed, he leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories that will live on in all who knew him.
