An unfortunate update to write. We have always been honest with our supporters, even if it’s not what is popular or what we all want to hear.
As you may have noticed, we have removed the Jordan’s Way fundraiser from our page. This means we have decided not to participate and withdrew from the event this year.
Unfortunately, there is a lot about Jordan’s Way fundraising events that is not acceptable to us and much was brought to our attention after accepting the invite.
At first glance, it seems like an awesome and fun way to raise money for your local rescue BUT we don’t feel that it is right that they get 25% of YOUR donations. That’s a lot of donated money for them to keep and when you add it all together, there is a large profit going to their
Organization when you are choosing to donate to For Belle’s Sake. 10% would be more acceptable to cover their travel expenses for their “shelter tours”. Not to mention, the shelters are expected to purchase all of the items needed for the event and provide them with lists of their previous adopters and people that donate so they can call them during the Facebook live event to ask for more. FBS will NOT turn over adopters info for them to make a profit off of. They also want shelters to contact local businesses to be a part of their event. I can stand by this IF 90%+ of the donation was going to FBS. Additionally, although the event was a great time last tour, many of this tour’s recipients were uncomfortable or left dissatisfied with the event and those in charge. As volunteers, it is very important that our time is valued and our mission is valued. Preparing for an event like this is a large undertaking and value needs to be maximized to make it worthwhile. When contacting Jordan’s Way to withdraw, the correspondence returned was uncomfortable, therefore furthering our desire to withdraw.
This page “Jordan’s Way, STOP the Schmuck” was not created by us, nor do we have anything to do with it. We were unaware of the page until after we withdrew. We are simply sharing it so you can see that we are not the only ones that have an issue with this type of fundraising.
100% of your donation should go to the animals in the rescue that you are donating to. We just can’t in good conscious know that 25% of your hard earned and generous donation is unaccounted for through a different organization. We believe that ALL of your donation should go towards the operations and care of the animals at For Belle’s Sake Rescue.
Those of you that truly want to support what we do and the animals in our care, please see info below to donate.
We had a goal with Jordan's Way of $20,000. $5000 more than we raised last tour. Please consider helping us do that on our own, without losing 25%.
Donations for For Belle’s Sake can be made directly via Paypal, Venmo, or mailing. 100% of it is tax deductible and there aren’t fees on either end when using these methods.
