Invicta May 9th match

Grey skies and light wind greeted the folks who came out to play, and we had a guy come out for the first time, Connor Gittere, he shot well for his first time, and I hope to see him at future shoots!

After a bad start, Danny figured out he had an equipment issue, but once he sorted it out he was really firing on all cylinders, and got the top score for the day! Bill came out to play for this first time this season, real life got in the way, but despite not being able to come to any matches this year, he was on target, and just one point behind Danny.

Talking about equipment issues, Brad and myself both seemed to have equipment problems, Brad has figured out his, I hope to sort mine out this week…..

Unless the weather is bad, our next match will be May 23rd, hope to see you there!!

God Bless

INVICTA APRIL 11TH MATCH 2026

Five guys came out to play in near perfect weather, warm with very low humidity, and no wind….. well to start there was zero wind anyway….Matt had to leave early, he had a prior commitment, so he went around on his own and shot the course, and wasn’t thrilled with his score, which I would have loved to got that day, LOL. After he left, THEN the wind really picked up…..

Brad brought his vintage Steyr LG100 out to play, and even with some really tricky winds that changed direction between first and second shots, Brad kicked butt. I should also mention that as usual Brad came out early to fine tune the course, but he also brought out a bunch of new spring clips to replace the ones he bought originally, many years ago for the club, as well as new signs for the forced positions, and a new design for the string retainers for the off hand lane, thank you for all you do!

Fittingly, Brad won the match with an excellent score for the wind conditions, with Matt’s score right behind him. It was a lovely match that despite the wind, we all enjoyed, it was a wonderful day to create some great FT memories, thank you for coming out, it was a golden moment in time for me.

Hope to see everyone at the next match in a few weeks,

God Bless

Invicta Field Target match August 9th

Four guys came out to the match, temperatures were perfect, was a little breezy just to add some spice! I altered lane nine recently, because for the last four matches no one had missed the first two targets, so I decided to make that lane a little more like Roz Sumpter's lane five on his old course, and removed the full size kill on the middle lane, put the close target in its place and put a reduced kill, maybe 1/2 as the close target..... Danny won the whole thing with a score of 53. All in all, a really great morning of FT fun, thanks for all who came out to play, I know you enjoyed it!

Hope to see you guys at the next match, the season is starting to wind down, we have six matches left this year, don't miss out!

God Bless

Friday the 13th, something quite lovely arrives, kinda rare in the USA, I know of around ten living in California, but not that many .... Sportsmatch GC2 mk2, a premier piece of kit back in the day, Stuart Lane used one to win the World's a few decades ago, as did Terry Almond I believe....

Just rebuilt this lovely Theoben SLR98 for a widow who now wants to pass it on, let me know if you have questions.

INVICTA FTC APRIL 5TH MATCH REPORT

The day started off at 70 degrees and rose up into the 80’s, that along with the humidity it brought strong winds that the storms were churning up for later that evening, I think perhaps we had the strongest winds in the clubs history to contend with? I was surprised how high the scores were, Bill was using some new AEA 13.7 pellets that made his 20 ft lb Thomas sound like a .22 lr going off!

We had five competitors make it out, Brad as usual was there early helping with the grass and grooming the course and practice in general, thanks Brad, much appreciated!

AAFTA sent us two of the targets used at the World Championships in Arizona last year, much appreciated, and the bison is currently living on lane two at the far target point, and the deer is resting at our middle target point on lane nine, so come to a match and shoot at them!!

Bill with his new pellets won the top score, with Cliff nipping at his heels, it was good to see Cliff recovering so well and so fast, he is an inspiration to me, makes me feel I have a few decades left in my FT career, we will see how I fair…..

Brad brought out his new to him Steyr LG100, it was a real tough day to try out a new rifle, but its a sweet rifle. I rebuilt my regulator since the previous match, and once again its shooting great, just got to figure out how to reduce the winds at the course LOL.

Our next match will be April 26th, I had to juggle dates as I will be attending the inaugural Indiana Airgun show this weekend.

Try and come out to shoot, you will then remember what you are missing, while you are missing targets….

God Bless
