Help Us Turn the Wall from Red to Gold!

If you've been in the gym this week, you've probably noticed the boxing gloves covering our wall. Almost everyone who walks in has asked what they're for!

This is our 52 Glove Fundraiser for Tammy.

Many of you already know Tammy. She's been training at K-FIT for the past couple of years, she's our 2025 Chicago Golden Gloves Masters National Champion, and she's been involved in boxing for more than 20 years as both an athlete and coach.

But what impresses us most isn't her boxing résumé—it's her heart. Tammy is always looking for ways to serve our community, whether that's volunteering, helping local nonprofits, or spending every Wednesday running bingo at a local senior living community. She genuinely cares about people.

Now she wants to take the next step by becoming an official Rock Steady Boxing coach so she can help even more people living with Parkinson's disease.

Getting certified is a significant investment. Between the Rock Steady Boxing training at headquarters, travel, hotel, and earning a nationally accredited personal training certification, the total cost is over $1700.

That's where our glove wall comes in.

Each red glove represents a donation. As the fundraiser grows, we'll flip those gloves over from red to gold.

Another fun monthly First Thursday Rock Steady class in the books. Today our boxers counted their reps and shadowboxed in FIVE different languages: English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese! 🤯🥊💪
Thankful for our awesome volunteer coaches who made it possible for the class to move around smoothly and injury free.

We could use a few extra helping hands this Thursday for our monthly "First Thursday" Rock Steady Boxing class.

A couple of our regular volunteers are unavailable this week, so if you are a K-FIT member and have an hour to spare from 10:30–11:15 AM this Thursday, we'd love the help.

Volunteers help our participants safely stand, move through stations, and get the most out of their workout.

Talk to Anne or Kenji at the gym if you're interested and available.

We were honored to welcome Illinois Congressman Darin LaHood to K-FIT Minooka during our Rock Steady Boxing program today.

Thank you for taking the time to meet with our fighters, listen to their stories, and learn more about the daily challenges people living with Parkinson’s face. It meant a great deal to our members to have someone genuinely interested in asking questions, connecting with them personally, and looking for ways to help support the Parkinson’s community.

Rock Steady Boxing is so much more than exercise — it’s strength, hope, confidence, community and fighting back together. We’re grateful for leaders who take the time to see that firsthand.
