First race of the season done and dusted! I was full of nerves as I always am especially getting back into the race mind space. I was apprehensive upon arriving with the tracks being reversed by a combination of having never done the track that way, racing at night and also only just finding my confidence in 2-dog I was close to pulling my entry. Emily offered me to borrow her rig and I took it knowing we would certainly be much slower but it was worth not ruining the progress we’ve made building this team for almost four years. I was shocked, even with a rig we still managed a reasonable speed and it was the boost I needed to switch back to the scooter Sunday morning. We managed to beat our time from the night before by over a minute, with a 30kph avg and two qualifying runs for Comet and Yeti. I could not be more proud of this team it makes me emotional to put into words just how it feels to put your blood, sweat, tears, bruises and constant imposter syndrome to the test. Comet stepped up to the plate big time impressing with his natural leadership skills, pushing and pulling Yeti in and out of corners and picking the right lines and I saw no slack in Yeti’s lines when things got tough.
Sorry for the long post but it was time for a real word-vomit update!
Special mention as well to my gold-lotto dog Dallas who could not officially compete due to not being registered with Dogs QLD, however he did get to race ‘socially’ and still ran like he stole it! When will you slow down? Never is the answer!
