Lakeland Union High School Bowling Team Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to compete.

Baker system bowling is used where one bowler bowls the 1st and 6th frame; the 2nd bowler bowls the 2nd and 7th frame, etc.

The District 9 Singles Tournament results have been announced. The bowlers who participated were placed in their division based on their BER % (means strike, spare, open frame calculations per meets bowled), which was set after week 8. Payouts were set at a 1:5 ratio. Each bowler, bowled 4 scratch games.

Divisions for D-9 singles event were:

Division A - ​​73-63 BER %
Division B - 62-59 BER %
Division C ​​- 58-56 BER %
Division D​​ - 55-51 BER %
Division E​​ - 50-42 BER %
Division F​​ - 41 and below BER %

Congratulations to:

Talan Pockat - Division A, placed 1st with a 988 series winning $325 into his scholarship account!

Mason Ward - Division C, placed 8th with a 745 series
Everett Smith - Division C, placed 22nd with a 607 series

As high school bowlers across Wisconsin gear up for the State tournament on March 6-8, the Lakeland Union High School community has a very special reason to celebrate!

For the first time in the program’s five-year history, LUHS is sending a bowler to the State singles competition. We are incredibly proud to announce that Senior Talan Pockat will be representing the Thunderbirds on the big stage!

Talan’s journey on the lanes began when he was just eight years old. Over the years, he has become the ultimate example of what "practice and teamwork" can achieve. While his path hasn't always been a straight line, his resilience and grace under pressure have led to incredible milestones—including officially signing to bowl for Milligan University in Tennessee this coming fall!

Talan heads into State as a serious contender with some impressive stats:

• District 9 #7 Boys Singles Seed
• 67.1179 BER (79 Strikes | 53 Spares in 160 Frames)

While the stats are impressive, it’s Talan’s character that truly shines. Talan, it has been a joy to watch you grow and transform over the years. We can’t wait to see you shine at State and beyond. Go get ‘em! 🎳💪

Join us on Sunday, February 1st for our last two meets of the season at Dales Weston Lanes, Wausau. First match at 10:00 am, Second match at 12:30 pm.

We’ve had a great start to the 2025-2026 high school bowling season. We are currently 3-1.

On Sunday, November 9th at Dales Weston Lanes, Wausau we played on oil patten Sunset Strip 40’

Varsity
First match - Amherst (Lost 1-8)
Second match - Merrill/Tomahawk (Won 7-2)

On Sunday, December 14th at Dales Weston Lanes, Wausau we played on oil patten Titanium 44’

Varsity
First match - Marathon (Won 8-1)
Second match - Iola/Scandinavia (Won 5-4)

Join us on Sunday, January 4th for our next two meets at Dales Weston Lanes, Wausau. First match at 10:00 am, Second match at 12:30 pm.
