We’ve got the horse thing down 1 person - 1 horse. The cow thing: 3 people - 1 cow — at a time🤣
I think the cows like it.

Ari’s never been in a show ring that I know of. He was handled and trained beautifully. As easy and perfect outside the ring as he is inside. Just born to be exceptional.

Little peanut misses her best friend. Looks like he enjoyed checking in on her too. Laminitis sucks!

Our mustang mares, Eva and Eowyn, are truly stunning. Nevertheless, both require preventative muzzle use to limit their grass intake, as drastic changes to their diet can lead to metabolic disorders common in domestic horses. Managing grass consumption and associated risks, such as seasonal fluctuations, time of day, grass length, weight management, exercise, and retirement, presents a considerable challenge.

Many horse owners face similar issues, and we are no exception. The complexities of equine health often necessitate specialized care.

Studying the natural diets of wild mustangs, which primarily consist of native range grasses like blue grama, needlegrass, and Indian rice grass, as well as shrubs such as sagebrush, bitterbrush, and saltbush, could inform more optimal nutritional approaches. These animals instinctively select a varied diet that promotes health and well-being. However, domestic pastures often pose risks due to high sugar content, particularly for mustangs accustomed to diverse forage. The intricacies of equine nutrition require careful consideration, and the gravity of dietary management is incredibly essential. A constant reminder as early as this morning. We have yet another case of laminitis due to spring grass.

Laddie needed some support today and a bit going forward even in his 30s. We let him ride with Malone to give him some confidence and reassurance that he wouldn’t be abandoned by him. I often do this when we have one that can’t stand to be out of sight of another. Since the loss of Chip and his growing bond with Malone - Laddie can’t stand to have Malone even leave to go out and ride. I let Laddie see that we don’t go somewhere that’s a mystery and not come back. He was very nervous to leave his side for the first 15-20 minutes and then started to take some breaks and learn he was still there, not far away, and was content to wander and relax when he was ready.

I’m not sure how all other horse people feel, but I don’t know why the first thing I think of is not peacefully resting when I first see this and yet these fragile beautiful creatures can peacefully rest every day when happy and content.

I love their firsts! When they discover them I feel like they’ve been trying to tell me all along.

Ari’s mane is a sight to behold.

I thought about it for one second today. Maybe raise turtles.
