Word of the day: polyonymous
Definition: An adjective describing a person, place, or deity with multiple titles or aliases.
OUR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION IS POLYONYMOUS, so let's break it down in case you've been confused:
๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐๐ต ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฒ๐: Sometimes abbreviated as COLYH this is our official association name on paper. We love it because it is more inclusive to the northern suburbs that are within our boundaries.
๐ ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ผ๐น๐ถ๐ ๐ง๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฒ๐: this is the name of our co-ed teams! This year we'll have Mini Mites (age 4-6) through Peewees (age 11-12).
๐ ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฃ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐น๐: Minneapolis/St. Paul Starwhals is the name of our girls' co-op teams. A co-op means that the players come from different home teams. In this case, the players come from 3 teams: the Titans in Minneapolis/suburbs, Langford Park Hockey in St. Paul, and Friends of Edgcumbe Hockey Association in St. Paul.
So, if you show up at the rink and see any of the names above listed on the schedule, now you know that's us!
