"The trees are about to show us how beautiful it is to let things go."
Dear Samadhi Community,
It’s with a tender, full and gracious heart that I announce today that Samadhi will be closing at the end of this year. Samadhi opened in 2019 with the intention to create community at the intersection of yoga, inclusivity and representation. From our inception to a global pandemic, surviving a fire, converting into a digital studio, and now dipping our toes back into in-person classes — we’ve lived a lot of life in our short time open, to say the least.
Our hope had been to weather the storm as best we could, but as the pandemic wears on, exhaustion has set in and projections are unsustainable. After deep reflection, it’s become clear that closing is the right, albeit difficult decision.
From the outset, our mission has always been to share yoga with people from all walks of life in a way that’s culturally respectful and trauma-informed, while invoking a felt sense of belonging. Though we’ve been derailed by COVID in an objective sense, I’m so proud of what we’ve created and the legacy that we’ll be leaving behind.
As a largely BIPOC staff, our existence has felt timely in the midst of our reckoning with race and equity in our nation. The dialogue, service and shared space in our community has been healing. We’ve sought to address important topics in yoga, like cultural appropriation, teacher representation, accessibility and fair pay. Our hope is that these conversations continue long after we’re closed.
I am grateful beyond words for those that have been along for the journey and for all of the love, support and trust you’ve put in us. It’s been the honor of a lifetime to be of service to this community. I want to specifically give thanks to our amazing, dedicated and talented teaching staff — most of whom have been with us since our very first day.
Our final day of classes will be Tuesday, December 21st. We hope that in the next two months, you’ll continue to join us for online and/or in-person classes. And before then, we’ll provide information on where to find our teachers so you may continue to practice with them.
With deep love and gratitude,
Molly + The Samadhi Team
