Lost Breed:Strength Gym

Lost Breed:Strength Gym One of the first Hmong strength training gyms in America started by James Vang, James Lee, Pheng Her From roughly 500 B.C.

Short History & Mission Statement:

Brief History:

For thousands of years, there has been a group of people who has lived on earth unnoticed. They were a part of the Warring Era during China's unification and as a result, the Hmong people or Miao migrated South East. For the next 2,000 years, this group of people without a king or country thrived in the mountains using whatever limited

resources they had. As the years went by these people eventually became the 18 clans and drifted away from the rest of the world as a mythical race that may or may not have existed in history. to 1955 A.D., the Hmong people lived in peace secluded from the rest of the world until the Vietnam War. Losing the war, the Americans needed assistance in guerrilla warfare. To fill in this role, the Hmong people who lived in the areas of this war were hired as secret CIA agents to support the Americans. Some 15 years later in the 1970's, the Americans decided to pull out of the war. No longer involved in the war, the Americans left and the Hmong were left behind to defend for themselves. For the crimes of assisting the Americans in fighting against the communistic governments in South East Asia, the extinction of the Hmong ethnic group commenced. 25% of their already low population wiped out, the Hmong people kept strong and persevered on. Eventually in the late 1970's and beginning 1980's, groups of Hmong people were finally able to relocate in different areas of the world and start a new life. Mission Statement:

So for thousands of years, the Hmong people has shown qualities of perseverance, discipline, adaptability, and possibility the most important quality, camaraderie. The theme of our gym represented in the name (Lost Breed: Hmong Strength Gym) originates from our long history of struggles. Our mission is to instill these qualities into anyone who is interested in changing their life physically, mentally, and spiritually (regardless of belief). Through physical training people will learn: how to persevere through the pain and hard work in order to achieve their goals; adapt to the changes in their lives as they learn how to adapt to the training we offer; and learn about self-discipline as they achieve their goals. Most importantly when you join our team, you won't have to do it alone. As the most important quality, we don't want you to go through this physical, mental, and spiritual journey alone. Let us work together to continue besting ourselves in every aspect of life and that is the true essence of Lost Breed.

I try to train abs every training day, even on rest days. I think they are slowly getting better overall and probably the most neglected area next to calves.

The man; Flavio Abreu, has been struggling with his squats for almost
4 years. Squatted 402 in Feb. 2012, but it didn't mentally feel like he could ever get there again. As he was working on his squats to get back to 400 lbs, he tore his hamstrings and literally gave up on squats, which was a part of the sport and exercise that he loves. On Aug 9th, 2015 he officially broke through his own mental and physical barriers after a few months of training at lost breed, and smoked his personal best.

As competitive athletes ourselves, we understand that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication, sometimes even self-motivation to continue working towards something that we love to do even when there is no one there to support you. At Lost Breed Gym, we wanted to give the opportunity for the youth here in the twin cities who are less fortunate, who can't afford to go to a gym, who can't afford a personal trainer, who can't afford to go and pay for summer training camps that specializes in their particular sport; an opportunity to come and train with us. Of course this is a way to help these student athletes to get better at whatever sport they want to pursue in the future, but we are also teaching them about discipline, hard work, camaraderie, values and giving them other options during the summer than going out to the streets. We at Lost Breed Gym presents our Youth Summer Training Program, something we hope to make bigger and better every year. Thank you all for supporting the vision!
