The week is here! North Loop Motorsports will be chasing down a GP2 season title in Austin at the Circuit of the Americas this weekend. Hallett 2019 had the promise of podium finishes for the North Loop Motorsports team, but some small mistakes and bad luck took us out both days.

All 4 drivers drove brilliantly (CJ started, Chad was second, Stephen Cox was third, Davis fourth) on Saturday with the team running P3 with only 20 minutes to go in the 8 hour race. Then disaster struck. After I (Davis) had carved cleanly through traffic for 2 hours straight, I went for what looked like a very obvious passing opportunity on turn 4, only to have the driver in front both close the door and hit the brakes last minute. I got on the brakes immediately but couldn't avoid bumping the 551 Porsche in front. Unfortunately the bump just managed to pierce our radiator, ending an otherwise solid day. Major bummer!

Everyone thrashed on the car to get it ready for Sunday. In addition to the crash damage, all 4 drivers had been nursing a damaged transmission through Saturday. Thus we needed to swap radiators, bleed the cooling system, unbend the front end and swap the transmission all in time for a 730am start Sunday.

Due to no one person's fault and a few surprises, we just couldn't get the car ready for the early AM start. We finally got the car out late Sunday morning to use the rest of Sunday as a glorified test day to prepare for the final races of the year in Austin, TX at Circuit of the Americas. Sunday we finished in 6th place.

Sometimes despite best preparation and intentions, it just isn't your weekend. We are hugely grateful for all team member's efforts both during the race and deep into the night to give us a chance. We still sit in 2nd Place for the season points championship of GP2, and top 10 overall, with a genuine chance to win the whole thing in these last two races. We had been using screw-in Apex studs until our race at Barber earlier this year. Chad pulled into the pits with the left rear wheel attached by "hopes and dreams." I literally was hit in the leg by one of the studs as it flew off the car while entering the pit box! Yikes! That kind of failure just isn't acceptable.

Core4 solves the problem by machining your hubs and then pressing in high quality motorsports MSI studs. This process eliminates the challenges vibration and torquing common to front mounted studs. So far we have completed 40 hours of racing since the switch, brought home 5 wins (three enduros, two sprints) and never worried once about a stud. No-brainer safety upgrade for any race car.

Most Amazing tires EVER! Our HankookTireUSA RS4 Race tires not only carried us to a 12-hour victory in Daytona, but then we used them AGAIN in Brainerd for an 8-hour victory. Four tires, 20 hours, 2 trophies.

A tire that wears like iron you say? They must be slow.

HELL NO. The RS4s have great feel. They transition well and communicate effectively - you can find its limit quite easily and consistently. They have great pace (maybe .5 seconds slower than the cheatiest of 200 treadwear stamped tires) and take heat extremely well. Unlike competitor tires, these don't fall off or get overly greasy if they run a little hot. Perfect for an Endurance Tire.

While we may well be the last to find out how great these tires are, we are definitely converts!

Summer treated North Loop Motorsport great, offering up two race weekends and a combined 3 wins! In May, the team journeyed all the way to Daytona International Speedway for a 14 hour enduro. Though the field was a little soft, the team maximized the opportunity and brought in a Win! The driver lineup of CJ, Cole and Davis took care of the car and never had to look back. Derek and Matt made sure it kept running all race, even managing a surprise alternator swap, while remaining many laps ahead.

July brought double 8-hour races at our home track in Brainerd. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend, or better results. The #27 took on the field and brought back wins both Saturday (1st in class, second overall) and Sunday (1st Overall). A storybook weekend in a lot of ways, with great weather, awesome friendship with our co-competitors (especially our 50 Shades of Blue buddies), and a car that could be driven back on the trailer when it was all done. Hooray for that!

Sorry ya'll, the benevolent dictator of North Loop Motorsports is many things, but a timely social media updater isn't one of them! Too busy racin' for any of this social media mumbo-jumbo! A few race summaries headed your way soon.

The NLM team is ready to rock for our next twin Enduro weekend with WRL at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. The #27 car is currently in Second place for the WRL GP2 class points championship. We have a stiff battle ahead as we wind down the season, only two weekends to go to catch up to the class leader before the season ends in Austin, Texas in November. Congrats to North Loop Motorsports for starting the season strong! The #27 car, piloted by CJ Harayda, Madi Margyl, Chad Baures and Chris Davis ran at the front of the pack on an unfamiliar track all weekend long, bringing home a podium finish in class (sixth overall) against a stout field Sunday.

Saturday the team acted swiftly to address a sudden loss of rear wheel studs, only to be taken out an hour from the end when the right front rotor shattered (freak accident of OEM parts failure). Matt R-Stell and Wayne Lee got right to work patching up the car such that by 11pm we could give it a test drive to confirm our repairs. Test drive approved we set about the race Sunday.

Davis started the race, working his way to the front of the pack. Chad went in second, only to have a red flag called five laps in after a big crash. His stint was interrupted AGAIN at 11am for the track mandated hour of silence on Sunday. Around noon Chad finished out his stint keeping us in contention. Madi jumped in next and ran consistent laps, getting a chance for some clear track at the end. CJ went in last and had to maintain the gap to Shaky Dog who was chasing us down from behind. It was a race to the finish, but we came out on top!

Next race is Daytona, where we hope to stand on the podium again! Many thanks to WRL for running a great race, and to our Winding Road and FCP Euro for helping us run at the front!
