No amount of complexity replaces highly refined skill. Piling on more weight, sets, reps and advanced variations without **truly mastering** core fundamentals of the basics isn’t impressive.
The bones of your training shouldn’t be a circus act of overcomplicated skills and we see it all the time…especially on social media.
Somehow it’s become “cool” to add complex variety, throw weight around and remove simplicity because it appears boring. 💩
There is incredible value in dedicating yourself to the process of building your training skills. When the SKILL is locked in, it shows. It reveals competency and a deep appreciation for consistent practice. It also guides you more effectively TOWARD advanced variations, heavier weights, etc.
Excessive complexity without the foundational skill to back it up, can lead to injury (or re-injury!), greater fatigue, poor progress and performance breakdown...
This goes for classes / apps with a gazillion exercises and volume thrown at you too. How do you expect to truly learn and grow when you’re going through the wringer for an hour? 😆
Skill proficiency first — always.
We want to see MORE growth, LESS injury, BETTER training, GREATER benefits.
