I share a few of my go-to practices for reconnecting people to the bigger picture, getting genuinely clear on expectations, and putting our energy in the right places during change.

๐Ÿค” How do you effectively translate ideas or frustrations into meaningful, tangible results and outcomes?

It's Thought-Provoking Thursday and time for another Rosie-in-my-Pocket...

As human beings, we tend to have a significant bias for action that prevents us from staying in the discomfort of getting clarity first - of what we want, what problem we're trying to solve, etc.

And although we want to get into action, we frequently fail to get clear about what ๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜€ are needed to get the desired results. Here's where things fall apart and become harder than they need to:

โžก๏ธ We struggle to actively practice our values because we're not clear on the ๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜€ that help us be aligned with our values (and those that pull us out of alignment).

โžก๏ธ We stay stuck in frustrations toward other people because we're not clear on the ๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜€ we want to see differently. Instead, we stay stuck in judgment and story.

โžก๏ธ We can find ourselves in resentment because we're not clear on our needs and aren't asking specifically what we need from others in various situations.

The more we can focus on specific, tangible actions for ourselves and others, the greater the opportunity for success; those specifics create a clear roadmap and guide. Without that clarity, people tend to swirl.

Even our Immunity to Change coaching work that we do to upgrade people's inner operating system starts with getting really clear on what BEHAVIORS they want to get better at that will result in the outcome. Because it's the behaviors we can change and the behaviors that ultimately shape the outcomes we get.

So if you have goals but aren't clear on the specific behaviors it takes to meet those goals, chances are there will be more struggle.

What's one area where you would benefit from being clearer on the specific behaviors and actions that are needed to help you reach the outcomes you desire?

One thing I wish we would stop doing is equating leadership with a title.

You don't magically become a leader when someone adds โ€œmanager,โ€ โ€œdirector,โ€ or โ€œVPโ€ to your email signature.

Leadership happens every single day.

It's how you show up when something gets uncomfortable.

It's whether you're willing to have the conversation.

It's how you respond when someone disagrees with you.

It's how well you know yourself.

Seriously.

You do not have to supervise a single human being.

If you want to understand yourself better, grow your impact, and become more intentional about how you show up at work AND at home, you belong.

We're gathering virtually October 26โ€“27, and I would LOVE to have you there.

๐Ÿ“š Today is International Literacy Day, and Iโ€™m celebrating the incredible power of reading to help us see ourselves and the world a little differently.

Some books entertain us. Some teach us. And every once in a while, a book gives us language for something weโ€™ve felt or experienced but couldnโ€™t quite name.

That was one of my biggest hopes in writing

I wanted to help people better understand WHY we get stuck, WHY change can feel so darn hard, and WHYโ€”even when weโ€™re incredibly motivatedโ€”we sometimes keep falling into the same patterns.

Because growth isnโ€™t about having it all figured out. In fact, one of the reminders I come back to again and again is this:

No one is above development.

We are ALL works in progress.๐Ÿฉท

So today, hereโ€™s to the books that challenge our thinking, expand our perspective, help us understand ourselves more deeplyโ€”and perhaps even change the direction of our lives.

Happy International Literacy Day! ๐Ÿ“–โœจ

And if ๐˜๐˜ถ๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ-๐˜—๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜“๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ฑ has been part of your reading journey, Iโ€™d love to know: ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ, ๐˜€๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜†, ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐˜ ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜€ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜†๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜?

๐Ÿค” Have you ever thought, โ€œI donโ€™t really need that development opportunityโ€?

Itโ€™s Thought-Provoking Thursday and time for another Rosie-in-my-Pocket...

Sometimes we resist coaching, training or reflection because weโ€™re busy.

Other times, itโ€™s because we think we should already know enough.

But what if that mindset is quietly getting in the way of our growth?

In this short episode, Iโ€™m sharing a few perspectives that may challenge how you think about developmentโ€”no matter your title, experience or stage of your career. ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐ŸŽง Give it a listen: https://sites.libsyn.com/370919/rosie-in-my-pocket-not-being-above-development

Perfectionism can convince us that if we canโ€™t get it exactly right, we shouldnโ€™t move forward at all.

But growth happens when we give ourselves permission to try, learn, adjust, and keep going. โœจ

When getting it exactly right keeps you overworking, delaying, or taking over, ask:

And if this resonates, feel free to download the quote card and hang it up as a daily reminder.

You've got this! ๐Ÿฉท

Belonging does not require self-abandonment.

People-pleasing may keep the peace for a momentโ€”but too often, it costs us our voice.

We say yes when we mean no.
We stay quiet when something matters.
We prioritize someone elseโ€™s comfort over our own truth.

Real belonging has room for boundaries, disagreement, honestyโ€”and the fullest version of you.

So ask yourself:

You can care deeply about others without abandoning yourself in the process.

Change is hard enough. Please donโ€™t make people guess their way through it. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Iโ€™m bringing back my conversation with Carajane Searcy Moore about one of the most overlooked pieces of successful organizational change: ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฑ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€.

Theyโ€™re often expected to translate the vision, answer questions, create alignment, AND support their teamsโ€”while navigating uncertainty themselves.

One reminder from our conversation says it all:

Clarity matters. Clear expectations matter. And when we donโ€™t have the clarity we need, every one of us can lead by asking for it.

If youโ€™re navigating change at work, or simply trying to communicate more effectivelyโ€”there are so many practical nuggets in this conversation.

๐Ÿคš Raise your hand if you ever go to your phone to avoid a potentially awkward interaction or if you find yourself going to your phone rather than being fully present with people.

It's Thought-Provoking Thursday and time for another Rosie-in-my-Pocket...

In our 24/7 connected world, it is so easy to fill the spaces in our day with the digital; but there's a cost:

โžก๏ธ The more in our devices we are, the more our capacity to see and notice others diminishes

Every time we reach for our devices, we miss an opportunity to form a meaningful connection or even be a small bright spot in someone's day

When we go to our devices when we're with friends, family or loved ones, we send a message that they aren't that important or that whatever is on our phones matters more than they do (๐˜ช.

I'm definitely guilty of this too. ๐Ÿซค

Sometimes it's only when circumstances force us to not be on a device and interact with others that we can see the contrast.

In invite you to join me in intentionally creating "no-phone time" in your week to prioritize human connection over technology and notice what opens up for you and your relationships.

Have you already made changes with your relationship with your phone? If so, what did you do and what difference has it made?

If not, what are you going to put into practice that will be meaningful for you, and what difference are you hoping it will make?
