Always a great time having the MRD crew back aboard! We're looking forward to another great day on Lake Michigan chasing salmon and trout. Thanks for continuing to come out and fish with us!

A few months ago, a mother-and-son combo reached out to me with an idea. Her son, Reinen, wanted to put together a fundraiser to raise money specifically to help get veterans out fishing.

Of course, I kindly obliged and told him to get after it.

Two weeks ago, I was asked to meet up with them to officially accept the money he raised and make sure it gets into the right hands. Every dollar will be going toward Manhardt Charters to help get another group of veterans out on the water next spring.

I want to personally thank Reinen for stepping up and making this happen.

It’s truly amazing seeing the next generation following in the footsteps of so many good people who came before them—people who understand how important it is to give our veterans opportunities to get outdoors, spend time around good people, and temporarily let go of some of the everyday stress and the experiences they may still carry from their military service.

Fishing might seem like something simple, but sometimes a few hours on the water, laughing, catching fish, and being around other veterans can mean a hell of a lot more than people realize.

Reinen could have chosen to raise money for just about anything, and he chose veterans. That says a lot about this young man and the example being set around him.

Thank you, Reinen. Because of your hard work, another group of veterans will get a day on the water next spring with Manhardt Charters—and I’m incredibly proud to help make sure your generosity gets exactly where you intended it to go.

Calling all fishermen and women! This 5-hour salmon fishing trip on Lake Michigan is right up your alley! You can host up to 6 guests so choose wisely, or feel free to feed them to the sturgeons. What happens on the boat, stays on the boat, right?! All the gear you'll need is provided; they clean and bag everything caught at the end and with any luck, you'll make some wicked memories.

This week is Pollution Prevention Week.

At MRD, pollution prevention starts long before the first building comes down.

Our approach will include:

• Dust suppression and water controls to help protect air quality
• Proper containment and removal of asbestos and other regulated materials
• Stormwater and runoff controls to help protect surrounding soil and waterways
• Separating, recovering, and recycling metals, concrete, and other building materials
• On-site concrete crushing and reuse where appropriate
• Responsible handling, transportation, and disposal of materials that cannot be recycled
• Careful site planning to minimize unnecessary disturbance and prepare properties for their next use

On many projects, MRD achieves landfill diversion rates of 95%+.

Responsible demolition is about more than what comes down. It is about how the work is planned, managed, recovered, and recycled.
