It's with a mix of nostalgia and immense pride that we share this update on Community Gym MKE's final chapter, and also with incredible hope for the future! For four incredible years, from 2019 to 2023, Community Gym was so much more than just a place to sweat; it was a movement dedicated to helping each of you become the best version of yourselves.
We were honored to organize over 250 free community workouts, proudly headline Milwaukee PrideFest, and even receive recognition and awards from the National Fitness Campaign. During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Community Gym became a vital safe space, fostering community and encouraging exercise when we all needed it most. We cherished every moment and every face that joined us.
As we look back on those impactful years and prepare to officially close this incredible chapter, we couldn't think of a more fitting organization to receive our remaining funds than the amazing BESTD Clinic in Milwaukee. For over 50 years, BESTD Clinic has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to providing free health services to our Milwaukee community, especially supporting the LGBTQ+ community – a cause incredibly close to our hearts at Community Gym. It's truly an honor to contribute to their vital work.
Thank you, Milwaukee, for the incredible memories, the sweat, the laughter, and the community we built together during our time! For those who have missed us, stay tuned… you just might be seeing the next chapter for Community Gym soon! 😉
