Today, I learned something very intriguing about leadership. As you step out of your place of comfort and begin venturing down the road of discomfort, the ride begins, but it ends with you having a different perspective.
If you have ever been on a roller coaster, you wait in line to have a thrilling experience. When you finally get to the gate, you have an opportunity to choose where you want to sit...the front, middle or the back. No matter where you sit, you will have an experience. As the restraint begins to lower down to lock you in, remember this is the contraption that is keeping you secure. As you take off, keep in mind that you are getting ready to be elevated to a height that is beyond your control. Once you're at the top, you quickly go down the track and as you continue on the ride there are twists, there are turns and there are loops. I want you to realize that the ride, although may be bumpy and uncomfortable, it only lasts for a while. When the ride comes to an end, it levels out and allows you to exit from the ride itself.
So, the assignment that you have been called to is not meant to be comfortable. As you begin to take the ride and begin to journey up the track, there will be valleys, pitfalls, twists, turns and loops that you will experience. The question is will you learn from the ride and incorporate the knowledge attained or will complaints, fear, doubt or worry distort the process.
