Our football team is 1/2 Farmington and 1/2 Nute. It’s a Farmington-Nute cooperative. Portsmouth-Oyster River is the Clipper-Cats. Portsmouth is the Clippers and Oyster River is a bobcat. Franklin is the Golden Tornado and Winnisquam the Bears. Their cooperative is the Golden Bears. I often hear our football cooperative referred to as “Tigers” which is not inclusive to the Rams on the team.

I refer to them as just “Farmington-Nute” Football and wear the new FN logo. In our cooperative contract it says the name shall be Farmington-Nute. Does anyone have a suggestion for a new mascot name that includes both schools as a cooperative should? Tiger-Ram isn’t that catchy!

The Nute fall sports season kicks off this afternoon at 4pm in Kingston as the Farmington-Nute soccer team makes its division III debut vs Sanborn Regional High School. For players, the bus leaves Farmington High at 2pm, arrive 15 minutes early for boarding!

The soccer team is Nute heavy this year, come out and support our Rams!

I have received several calls and messages after the Farmington Nute Soccer meeting tonight. We wanted to clarify that there will be no Nute bus to Farmington-Nute cooperative practices or games. Football and soccer players and parents are responsible for getting to Farmington if you are playing on one of the cooperative teams. This has been communicated several times throughout the summer.

Additionally, Farmington has rolled out a last minute registration process for Farmington student-athletes. Nute players do not register through that system. We had our sign ups in June and player eligibility/academic eligibility is already done. We do that prior to the first practice as those numbers had to be turned into the NHIAA a couple of weeks ago.

The Nute Athletics permission to treat form is available on the Nute Resources website Link below. All student athletes participating in middle or high school sports need this form completed and turned into the team's head coach.

Physicals will be a little different this school year. The Milton School district is no longer requiring students to have physicals annually. Student athletes are now required to have physicals when they enter middle school and again when they enter high school (prior to playing a sport). If a player is a freshman, for example, they will need a physical completed and on file with the school nurse and that will be good for their high school careers. The only exception is after a significant injury, the school nurse or trainer may require an updated physical to clear a player after injury.

Hopefully this policy update makes participating in athletics easier for our student athletes and families.
