🤼♂️ MONDAY MEMORIES 🤼♂️
The day before the kids head back to school feels like the perfect time for a little walk down memory lane… and a chance to recognize the men who spend so much of their time helping shape our wrestlers today.
Before they were COACH, they were the kid on the mat.
They were the ones learning how to get back up after a loss. Learning discipline. Learning that hard work matters. Learning how to push through when they were tired, frustrated, nervous or ready to quit.
And somewhere along the way, they had coaches who believed in them too.
Today, each of these men has a life outside of the wrestling room. They have families. Careers. Responsibilities. Places they need to be and people who count on them.
And still… they make time for our kids.
That means something.
I (Tiereny) get the chance to listen to these guys talk about our wrestlers, their potential and more!
I hear how much they care about them, how badly they want them to succeed IN LIFE not just on the mat, and how much thought goes into teaching them more than just wrestling.
Because to our coaches, wrestling has never been JUST a sport. They believe wrestling helps build better people.
And I believe that too.
Discipline. Accountability. Confidence.
Humility.
Mental toughness. Respect.
Learning how to win with grace and how to lose without giving up. Learning that the work you put in when nobody is watching eventually shows when everybody is.
Those lessons follow you long after your wrestling shoes are packed away.
Our coaches understand that because they lived it themselves.
They remember what their coaches meant to them. They remember the lessons, the practices, the tournaments, the hard days and the people who helped shape the men they eventually became.
And now they get to be that person for somebody else’s kid.
So today, enjoy a little glimpse back at our coaches when THEY were the wrestlers on the mat.
A snippet of where it started.
A look at some of the experiences that helped make these guys who they are today.
And most importantly, a huge THANK YOU to the coaches who continue giving back to the sport that gave so much to them.
You never really know which practice, conversation, pep talk or moment a kid will remember twenty years from now.
But our coaches know firsthand that sometimes… you remember your wrestling coach forever. ❤️🤼♂️
Here’s to the men (women too but we do not have a female coach just yet) who once wore the singlet and now stand in the corner.
Thank you, Coaches. Our kids are lucky to have you.
