Written by Connie Leonhardt- As a mother one's worst nightmare is
the loss of their child, it is not
considered natural for a parent to
outlive them. It is also very difficult to
see our children suffer for any reason.
We want to protect and comfort them
with everything we have.
As I sit at my daughter Cora
Leonhardt's hospital bedside I struggle
to hide my tears. I see her pain, I feel her
pain, and I cannot make it go away. No
amount of magic mommy kisses can
soothe her.
Cora has yet again amazed us all with
her inner strength and passion to live
her best life. I am astounded by the
level of support that those that are
complete strangers to us, her family,
and friends have offered to both her
and those of us that are here right now
at her side.
Most of us are aware that Cora and
Jacob Durbin recently become
engaged. The love that they have for
one another is beyond anything I have
witnessed in a long time. The
level of support, care and love that
Jacob has given my daughter brings
me to tears. It affirms that God brought
them together for a special reason.
These two young people are just
beginning in life and are facing
challenges that could shutter the
strongest of bonds. They recently
remolded their home and Jacob is
faced with several large tasks to bring
the love of his life home to a safe
environment conducive to providing her
with the ability to overcome the
obstacles her disability will place before
her.
Cora has been accepted at the Shepard Center in Atlanta 🎉. Her insurance is amazing, thank God!
As we all know it can be difficult to face even small changes to our worlds. Cora and Jacob Durbin are faced with renovating their recently renovated home a second time to accommodate Cora’s new needs.
Cora is an amazing young woman that is ready for the challenge and your support in one way or another will help them survive this difficult challenge with grace and pride. I have never known Cora to be susceptible to an attitude that allowed room for failure as an option. She has again amazed everyone around her with her passion for a life full of love. As these two plan their future together they made need a rally of support to help them overcome this together as a team.
Let’s show them how much faith we have that God has a plan for them and this is exactly where they need to be. Her journey to Shepard Center will determine what her home needs to ensure she comes home to an environment that is safe and conducive to her independence.
As her mom, her family and I are thankful that her spirit is still alive and thriving let’s help keep her going!
